It's not any worse than that of believing in fallen angels who mated with human women?
Point well-taken. Because we already know from the Bible that fallen angels mated with human women. And also the book by Billy Graham on Angels defines Angels as being Extraterrestrial. So how is it that Christians scoff at extraterrestrials and yet believe in angels? Contradictory.

No, we don't all know that because we don't all believe that. You are posting opinion as if it was taken as fact by the rest of the world when it is not.
No, it is not a proven fact that advanced ET's have visited earth, and Jesus doesn't fly around in UFO's.
No proof of Earthly aliens
More than half of Americans (54 percent) believe intelligent life capable of communication exists among the stars, according to a 2015 survey by marketing research firm YouGov. Plenty of money and big minds have been put to the task of finding signs of E.T., with an entire institute called SETI devoted to just that.
"He's not the only Silicon Valley type, entrepreneur in the tech industry, that thinks we're being visited," Shostak said.
Even so, the solid evidence of these visitors is nonexistent. [Bolding mine]
Im not sure about Jesus flying around in a UFO, but this is from the NY Times article in Dec 2017...
"By 2009, the program had made such extraordinary discoveries that Reid argued for heightened security to protect it. “Much progress has been made with the identification of several highly sensitive, unconventional aerospace-related findings,” Mr. Reid said in a letter to William Lynn III, a deputy defense secretary at the time, requesting that it be designated a “restricted special access program” limited to a few listed officials.
A 2009 Pentagon briefing summary of the program asserted that “what was considered science fiction is now science fact,” and that the United States was incapable of defending itself against some of the technologies discovered."
So if 'aliens' were not visiting earth, how could they have reached these conclusions?

According to Robert Sheaffer, one of the leading skeptical investigators of UFOs, commenting on The Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program (AATIP),
''Funding for the AATIP activity was discontinued in 2012, Sheaffer said, "because it was not producing any results, just reams of paper, although the investigation is reported to still be continuing, but without funding, if that is possible."
"They have only released two very blurry infrared videos of objects that appear to be distant jets, without sufficient information to do a really good analysis of them," he added. "So, ultimately, all you have are a few UFO believers in and outside government who were able to get away with funneling a few million Pentagon dollars to themselves for UFO research, and have very little to show for it."
Again, while there may very well be advanced alien life elsewhere in the Universe, there simply isn't any proof that they have visited the earth. The comments of Senator Harry Reid do not constitute proof. That's not to say that earth hasn't been visited by aliens, but so far there has been no proof that we have been visited by aliens. And most astronomers don't believe that aliens have visited earth.
Far from being close-minded killjoys, most scientists in the “never aliens” camp desperately want to be convinced otherwise. Their default skeptical stance is a prophylactic against the wiles of wishful thinking, a dare to true believers to provide extraordinary evidence in support of extraordinary claims. What is really extraordinary, the skeptics say, is not so much the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence but rather the notion that its existence nearby or visitation of Earth could be something easily unnoticed or overlooked. If aliens are out there—or even right here—in abundance, particularly ones wildly advanced beyond our state, why would incontrovertible proof of that reality be so annoyingly elusive?

Please tell me you are not surprised a UFO skeptic or US Govt would be doing anything they can to try and make that article seem less extraordinary or credible as possible?
Keep in mind, every single time before this article came out, when a president or someone in the Govt has been asked about the UFO/ alien topic, the govts response has always been, that they have not had any official investigations into UFOs since Project Blue Book ended...well, this is now proven to be a lie, they DID have a $22 million program going on, which (they claim) ended in 2012...but they have a track record of lying about this, so Im not sure would believe what they say at this point.
