It is plain from Scripture that Jesus' ascension was a literal, bodily return to heaven. He rose from the ground gradually and visibly, observed by many intent onlookers.

That's right. And the disciples were asked by the two angels (called men) why they were looking into the sky (Acts 1:11). Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives and will again set foot on the Mount of Olives when he returns as per Zechariah 14:4.

I guess it was magic, even tho, the whole of the Universe is based in math,
equations and physics...it is itself a mathematical structure.
