The Jerusalem Council
Acts15 But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”
the epistle of james, one of the earliest new testament books that dates a couple of decades after the inception of the early christian movement, asks its audience to define what faith can be without works, or what works can be without faith
also, it is interesting to note that many of the things advocated in the epistle, bare many similarities to what jesus sermoned on the mount
Given the dillema* that james epistle created for its audience, how can the modern christian be desensitized to the poverty that is prevalent throughout the world.
I don'y know that the "modern Christian" is desensitized to poverty. I believe most Christians try to help- at least pray for these people that are starving. I also believe that there are not really that many "Christians". Many identify themselves as such- based on their beliefs in their mind. However, their "fruit" indicates that most so called Christians fall about 18 inches short- the distance from the head to the heart.

Is this for Gentiles today?
What did the council (apparently chaired by James) decide on the question?
Prove it, please. Give me actual Bible verses showing that God dictates I vote for certain political processes.
Dude. I never said God dictates you vote for certain political processes. I am telling you what God wants.
God is well aware you lack empathy for others. It is your arrogance and your true Christian failing. Work on that.
First things first. You need to have a relationship with God to know what God wants. That requires empathy for brothers and sisters you will never meet. Work on this , too.
You should be providing food, shelter, and education to your brothers and sisters. You do none of that.
Oh, you may contribute a few dollars here and there, which is commendable. It is a mere supplement to what is needed by your collective community. Not pooling our resources for the good of the community creates an unhealthy community.
jimmie's church pools their resources to help the community. jimmie knows he cannot help others alone. He found a community to join and help others with real sincerity and empathy.

Right. lol......
And you heckle those that tell you what God thinks based on what he's said.
No one is saying that we shouldn't help care for the poor and needy. The point that I disagree on with you is where your political solution is different than my solution. I don't believe God dictates HOW we do that, and I'm not arrogant enough to suggest that unless we agree on a political solution, you're wrong. You'd do well to think about that.

You have no idea what God wants. You have a relationship with a book, not God.
You would do well to listen to God, and drop your arrogance. Your lack of empathy for others needs some work.
As a community, we elect a government and pool our resources. We then give these people the responsibility to allocate the pooled resources.
The road to your church, The lights on the road. Hospitals. Schools and so forth is part of the collective need.
Hardly political. Only you want to make this about politics.
We are a collective for the good of the community.
You have no idea what God wants. You have a relationship with a book, not God.
As long as you continue to spout dismissive crap like that you won't be taken seriously. It's offensive to tell others what to believe, and we will simply ignore you.
What is the difference between works of faith and works of the Law?
You don't know?
