The fact is that people who preach "love" bereft of the Gospel are actually blind to the love of God that is shown through the Cross. If you want to talk about love, what greater love is there than Christ's substitutionary death to atone for ours sins? What greater love?! There is none greater!
Romans 5:7-9:
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
We love God because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).
Love doesn't have to atone for YOUR sin, it merely forgives you, not holding YOUR sins against you.
Honestly, is the goal of the forum to learn about diverse views, versions of Christianity, various texts, etc. or is it to rehash our childhoods and/or seek converts?
You don't seem to be able to accept that so many of us grew up hearing these same verses spouted at us. It sounds good if you leave it at the above, but the huge "BUT" that always follows these thoughts is what drove so many of us out of the Bible-quoting type of churches.
God loves you BUT he is always watching to see if you are going to trip up and will punish you harshly when you do. God love you BUT if something goes wrong in your life or you are hurt by someone else or if someone close to you dies, well, it was your own damn fault because you either did something wrong or prayed incorrectly. Or something.
God loves you BUT never ever forget that you are by virtue of your very existence a piece of low-life worthless crap so don't ever EVER make the mistake of thinking anything good of yourself because God will squash that vain thought like a bug.
And the ultimate--God loves you BUT you may never be able to feel loved and might have to spend years of your life crying and feeling completely alone. Just believe it anyway because the Bible says so.

Can you actually show "any" of these accusation you are accusing others of making?. If you can't then grow up.
