Your references to the Old Testament as some sort of “gotcha” is an incorrect argument. You haven't read these Old Testament references in context.
Again, you will never be able to talk about the Lord truthfully or correctly. Think about that. The things you that you placed your faith in denies you the ability to say certain truthful things. That is a supernatural event and it should worry you...greatly
You are the one who has trouble interpreting the scriptures.
Only 6 verses that you can bring which you interpret as a wholesale condemnation of homosexuality. None are. They all deal with sins of adultery, violence and idolatry. they are all in the context of either subjugating a defeated enemy (male on male rape) or with idolatry (pagan sexual rites as part of idol worship).
The supreme commentator on scripture did not mention homosexual activity once. The most blatant sexual sin he dealt with was the woman caught in adultery. His words to her: NEITHER DO I CONDEMN YOU.
Let's stop right there. Who do you think you are to condemn anyone for their sexual activity when the Lord Jesus Christ did not condemn one caught in the act? How are you a higher judge and authority on this subject than Jesus himself? Seriously! Do you realize this is the same thinking that got Lucifer cast out of heaven, believing himself to be on par with God? Do you not see that you are placing Jesus and his authority to judge as subordinate to your own when you judge harsher than he? The spirit of Lucifer is at work when anyone does this.
The Lord then called her to salvation. His words: Go and sin no more. The only place one sins no more is at the cross of Christ where every sin was nailed and where Christ cast it as far as east is from west and said he remembers it no more. That is where he pointed this woman he mercifully came alongside in the midst of her adultery.
He did not condemn. You do.
I will correct myself here. Jesus did condemn. The religious church of the day. He equated their lustful thoughts on par with adultery. KJoe, how often do you think of defiling a pretty young thing that comes along your line of vision? Ever? Even once?
There is little bible or Jesus in your comments here sir. You know parts of the bible extremely well, but you don't use them the way Jesus did nor do you have the heart for the world that he had. You need to know him more than the book.
The Psalmist wrote this while in Babylonian captivity. This revenge on his captors was never endorsed by the Lord
Again, you will never able to respond or talk about the Lord truthfully or correctly. It is a blindspot, a void that you will never be able to overcome unless you turn away from your sin.
What "sin" do you imagine I need to turn away from?
There is no trickery. Intent is the key. Do you say that editors and copy writers wrote the book or the author who was the inspiration of the novel? God was the inspiration. There were several writers for all 66 books that make up the Bible.
Many more than several, and the authors of some of the books like 2 Thessalonians and 2 Peter that are generally suspected to be pseudographical are unknown altogether, as is the author of Hebrews.
God has been the inspiration for things I have written myself. But that doesn't mean that God dictated it to me or told me to write it. Yes, I realize one of the definitions of "inspiration" refers to divine revelation, but the Bible has humanity written all over it. God can be found therein, but in the same way one finds small bits of gold among other pebbles in the stream. It is idolatrous and vain to claim that the words of men are literally the words of God, especially in cases when they are obviously so, so, flat-out WRONG.

From your point of view, of course. But you know from what I already stated that I disagree.

I find it rather cute, yet silly, when people who don't know me prance up in here and deign to give lectures about what I should or shouldn't do as if they are in some kind of position to do so. Why don't you just worry about yourself, dear. That would be best.
You know, the ironic thing is the behavior of the LGBT community towards evangelicals who will not embrace their immorality is growing more akin to how the Nazis treated the Jews It's started with creating negative stereotypes then propaganda, then stripping away their rights piece by piece until even wealth celebrity Jews had everything taken from them. I seem a similar path when school children today are being kicked out of school just because they don't want to participate in a gay affirming class activity.
I can see a future where pastors will be thrown in prison if they don't praise gays in their church.
Your dislike (hate) of homosexuals shines as bright as a flashlight in a dark closet. Yet, you claim to love them?
Apparently, you are forgetting that most who oppose you are actually Christians who see it differently, then you.
How very sexist of you! So men are not able to hear from God?
Well, now there's a leap of illogical thinking!
You remind me of my late brother, who used to say, "Do you walk to work or take your lunch?" Of course, he was trying to be funny, and you are simply trying to make it sound as if I am saying something I never said. Taking lessons from Finn?
Like him, I know you're not that stupid and are just pretending to be stupid because--well, I don't really know why you guys do that. Entertains you in some way, I suppose.
But for fun, let's pretend for a moment that WOMEN wrote the books of the Bible, and redo the conversation:

Who has the primary authority and last word, woman or the Scriptures?

Cute trick question. Neither. Women wrote the scriptures, so it's the same thing.

I am very religious so some boys at school called me insane for being so religious behind my back and then told me that I should be flattered when I confronted them on it, because they were also saying I was attractive in the same online meme calling me religiously insane..........I had to bite my tongue........and walk away......................and then I come on here to a Christian forum only to have people say things like I am naive or very religious people have low IQs.
Everyone on this thread should be a bit nicer.
I am probably the most religious person in my family and I am also probably the lowest IQ member of my family....so maybe that is true....
....However, look at me though...I 100% support LGBTQ+ rights and marriage. I support a larger social safety net....I am not a teen mother either....in fact I am 18 and still a virgin and plan to wait for marriage or at least I hope...I don't watch porn either...ick...
So some of those stats certainly don't apply to me even though I am very religious.
Here is my post from before where I ask those who disapprove of LGBTQ+ people to leave them alone and disapprove of me instead....
I am not mad, I appreciate you sticking up for gay rights as I do too, but no need to paint with a broad brush me in there either please...with things like teen moms and low IQs, even if I am not half as smart as my brother.
I wish this forum was more positive...I was hoping it would be more of a haven to take some refuge in.
Jesus loves LGBTQ+ members.
