God's word to prophet Isaiah

4. The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away,

5. the lofty people of the earth do languish. The earth also is polluted under the inhabitants
thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.

6. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are found guilty:

7. therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left. (Isaiah 24)

The curse will come not just or at all because of bad environmental policy, but because of sin.

KJV Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Verses such as the above remind me the bible does contain some prescience among its random bits of wisdom and nonsense.

We have not been good stewards of the Garden. And there are repercussions. We are finding out what the piper learned, though the full cost has yet to be determined.
