When making plans for the wedding, my mother earnestly asked the Rector a year before the wedding - "Now that scaffolding is unsightly. The work WILL be done in time for our wedding, will it not?"
The Rector said "I am sure they will try their best to have it done in a timely fashion".
For some reason, I've never gotten there. Have to make a point to do so.
I remember some years ago that they brought stone workers over from Europe to train young people from poor, inner-city neighborhoods in the craft to work on the church.

Here is one for the future. I started a thread when it was in the news that construction would be starting up again after financial issues caused the contractor to shut down the job, but nobody cared.
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was housed in a plain boxy building, four stories high, a block and a half southwest of the World Trade Center, and was obliterated by the fall of Building Two. It was under fifteen feet of debris, and very little was recovered, not even its icons.
They sued, of course, and in place of that little building, a much larger church and community center is being built adjacent to the southern edge of the WTC Memorial Plaza.
