ALL of us are body, soul, and spirit today........the body is a temporary tent that goes back to the dust. We have an eternal God so our soul/spirits are eternal as well, no matter whether you are a believer or not. Believers have a different destination than the NON. Something most don't know is the UNbelievers will be resurrected at the end of the Millenium to be fitted with a body for hell. Believers will have been in a glorified body and enjoying the company of Jesus since the rapture before the Tribulation.
2Co 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.
2Co 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
Before the cross, the dead went to Sheol/Hades. After the cross all believers go to heaven. Resurrection is something that occurs after the intermediate state. Paul stated straight out that to be absent from the body is to be at home with the Lord. That's straight forward. Jesus is not in the grave. He is in heaven.
At the resurrection, those who are in heaven will be reunited with their bodies which will be raised in an immortal and incorruptible form.
The book of Revelation, chapter 20 speaks of those in heaven who are about to be resurrected. These are the same people shown in Revelation chapters 6 and 7.
1 Corinthians 15:52 does speak of the dead being raised. What you fail to understand is that while the body goes into the grave or is otherwise disposed of, the immaterial part of man, the soul goes into the presence of God in heaven and will at some point in the future be reunited with the body which will be raised in an incorruptible and immortal form.
I don't believe he was referencing that day, as they were yet to go to the grave. And, as you know (according to the Scriptures), Jesus was raised from the dead, not some fictional hellhole having two compartments or holding tanks, one for the wicked and another for the righteous. That is just nonsense, and a fabrication of man's imagination (mythologies).

Your unbelief regarding sheol/hades is your unbelief and doesn't change reality.
The fiction you believe regarding an underworld (hell and damnation), isn't reality.

You have been duped into believing the nonsensical beliefs of an underworld, other than the grave.
It is a reality to the pagans, the christian should know better but they do not seem to and mix the pagan beliefs with Christianity.
I realized a long time ago that Christianism is syncretistic in nature, whereas it has adopted various beliefs from a variety of other cultures. It just amazes me, how gullible people are, or have become, and continue to be.

Why do you keep bringing 'hell' into just about every thread? Jesus didn't go to 'hell.' He went to paradise, and so did the criminal who Jesus said would be with him that day.
And your assertion that 'hell and damnation' isn't a reality is based on nothing but your desire that it not be so. It's an empty claim. Period.

He went to the grave (not a fanciful paradise), and his life force (breath, spirit) went back from whence it came. But according to your beliefs, it was returned upon the resurrection of his physical body from the dead, again, the grave is not paradise! Neither is it an underworld of pain and suffering.
