When translated to English, it's basically the Hail Mary prayer. Protestants don't do that because we don't pray to Mary. Or any dead human.
You may have a different definition of prayer. To the Catholic church, prayer is communication. And we are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses and also the saints (who are all dead) surround the throne of God and bring our petitions to the throne of God.

Oh well, do what you believe is right and I will too. Just explaining my perspective.

Sorry. No verse says we should attempt communication with the dead. On the other hand, necromancy is expressly forbidden.

Same way you know Christ is alive . It is what the faiths teach and what the believers accept as fact .

Most of Christianity holds to more than just sola scriptura.

Our God is the God of the living, not of the dead, "for to him all are alive" Luke 20:38/Mark12:27/Mat22:32

"Bear each others burdens" - Gal 6:2 - "Pray for one another" James 5:16 - "making supplications to the Saints" Ephesians 6:18

I think Eph 6:18 means for the saints ( believers) rather than to the saints ( Catholic saints ) .

Don't be sorry - unless you want pity from me in return!

I don't believe that people who have died on this earth before us are not living, for starters. So I am not "communicating with the dead."

Question - what do you believe is the definition for the communion of the saints?
