I'm getting confused here. I just read Biologos take on the Flood, along with other scholars who don't think the Flood was world-wide, then where does that put Noah? Since he is mentioned as a real historical figure in the Bible.

If the Flood is a polemic (my new word, lol) against other ANE flood literature, then what do we do with Noah? The Ark is figurative, but Noah is real? That gets kind of complicated.

Google didn't get me far on this question.

Just because something is in the Bible does not mean it's historic fact.

Is this the Biologos article you are referring to? https://biologos.org/common-question...flood-account/

If there was a historical Noah that doesn't necessarily mean that the flood story into which he was placed actually happened. Bear in mind that all the flood stories of the ancient Near East are based on an actual flood of some sort, a flood that was large enough to be the basis for legendary accounts of that flood. A flooding of the Trigis-Euphrates river system could have been the source for the flood stories, or perhaps the Black Sea flood.

Everything prior to Genesis chapter 12 is primeval history and need not be taken as actual history.

God said after the flood of Noah that He will not judge the earth with a world wide flood again from Genesis 9:11...... So the climate change fears may be no flood over the earth again

it is not about flood or fire but "Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation." - genetics.

World wide according to the times. How large was the known world in the era recorded in Genesis?
The ancient epics of Gilgamesh and of Atrahasis describe great flooding and the building of boats to save people and animals.
I believe there was a great flood as far as the eye could see in ancient times in the known world.

Noah wasn't real, either.

Hope that sets your mind at ease.
