I just wanted to make a thread on certain concepts that are in danger of going into extinction.
First up, is the concept that we cannot go to heaven on the basis of our own, practical righteousness; but that the only way in is to have the righteousness of Christ imputed to us.
Verses that have been quoted before but which bear mentioning.
Mat 5:48, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Jas 2:10, For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Gal 3:10, For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Mat 5:20, For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
I think I will post the other concept that I have in mind in a different thread.
But it bears mentioning, and discussion is desirable, concerning the idea that if we are going to enter in to the kingdom on the basis of our own, practical righteousness, perfection is required.
