I think you need to weed out the true Christians from the ones that call themselves one. Meaning if they say they are, but don't act like it, chances are, they are not. Even true Christians are still sinners, and do make human choices.
It's hard, when you don't get alone with other people period, but as long as you do your best to be true and good in the eyes of the Lord, I don't think you have to worry about what others do or say.

How does one act like a Christian? Being a Christian is being saved by grace from the blood of Jesus on the cross. How do we act like something that was done for us?

Act like Christ did. I know a few people that say they are Christians, but yet they molest kids, cheat on their wives, ect, etc. They use people, treat them like dirt. But since they have read the Bible over and over, they are always using verses to sound like they are Christans. Doesn't make them one.

Very true. Acting like Christ is tough, that means we would be perfect.

Love God and Love your neighbor, that is the fruit of a Christian.

I've always felt close to God, have had many life experiences that leave me with no doubts of His existence. I always called myself Christian, if asked. But more and more lately, I just feel like I don't identify with the ideas/behaviors of those I encounter (in person or through media, etc.) who claim "Christianity" as their faith.

It just feels to me like what I encounter is such an elitist, judgemental force. Does anyone else relate with that? It's not that I feel differently about God, because I don't. I know Jesus is real, I know He died for me. I don't question any of my beliefs. I just don't feel like I fit in among those proclaming Christianity. Does that make sense?

I'd love to be involved in church again. But it seems every one I've tried, save one (and I can't attend that one anymore because I moved out of state), felt very "cliquey" to me, like most people there really were constantly judging everyone else, looking down on them. I haven't tried to find a new church in a very long time, I just got sick of trying to find one that felt right.

And when it comes to things like the documentary "Jesus Camp", I am just left feeling like I SURELY don't want to be lumped into the same category as these folks! Not that I don't have love and compassion in my heart for them, because I really do. I just don't identify with their practices.

I also think history shows that a lot of really horrendous, very WRONG things have been done in the name of Christianity and this, coupled with the things I've already pointed out, make me leery of telling my children "you are Christian". We talk about God, we talk about and read the Bible at times, we discuss Jesus, etc. Part of me feels regretful that I don't have them involved in church...but another part of me refuses to put them in an environment where people behave elitist and judgemental because it just seems counterproductive, you know?

Anyway, I'd love to hear other people's take on this subject, and hear about your own experiences as well.
Not only can I relate, the general religious consensus is that I am not Christian.

I say to them, fine. I am not a Christian, I am just a person who loves and follows Jesus.

Christian is officially a synonym for Pharisee.

I'm glad that Jesus is the judge and not other religious people.

I can see that big line of people who want to roast me and burn me for all eternity.

Mark 6:34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

It would be nice to go to a church where the pastor is a Shepperd like David that put his life for the sheep. Nowadays, we don't see such thing. This is why people are so disenchanted.

Jesus said that he did not loose any of the sheep except the son of perdition. Pastors don't even bather to look for the lost sheep. They just say that people comes and go.

Is there anyone who spend nights praying for the flock anymore? Or maybe fasting for them. I just wonder.
Is there anyone seating down to explain something to a brother or a sister to win them for Christ by inspiring rather than imposing to them?

Who cries for the souls? I guess, not many.

That's what the Lord expects. This is the reason he gave his Holy Spirit to believers.

In the flesh is impossible. But God does not want us to walk according to the flesh. He wants us to be born again and to honor God in everything we do. This is the beginning of a Christian life.

U found that I felt this way when I left my mainline denominational church for a while to explore the not so fun world of fundamentalism in my early 20s.
People were warn and friendly but their ideas terrified me. For example some supported apartheid!
