I shocked my Sunday school teacher by showing her the word “p1$$” in the Bible.
Omg I remember when I found that word too, I was so shocked. And pleasantly surprised because then I was able to go to my parental unit and say "I thought this was a bad word"?

Those early 17th century Englishmen must have been a wild bunch.

Actually that PU I mentioned was a KJV-onlism-er. And yes, I was more than happy to point that out to them that it was freaking ok to say ****.
The word "pisseth" is in fact in the KJV, and so is the word "****". Not bad for an atheist huh?
And to answer your post Woxy, which I didn't do above because I mistakenly thought I quoted you and the other poster who I addressed above., it's one of the stupidest things that my PU believed, that the "wild bunch" of 17th century Englishmen were some kind of gods that could never be questioned about their interpretation. Complete lunacy.
So all the illiterate Christians who lived for centuries prior to the invention of the printing press are doomed?
Can't rep you again, but ding ding ding, we have a winner.
I am always amused at the self-righteous who believe they have been given some authority to decide who is and who is not condemned to eternal damnation. Oh yes, we know that reading the Bible and interpreting it to the way it favors them is their authority.

No, I don’t believe that. People prior to the printing press were dependent upon their church leaders. Our God is a just, merciful and forgiving God. He will judge all people fairly.
We, however, have been given a wonderful gift. We are privileged to live in a time when God’s word is available to pretty much all people. We have no excuse.
Read Psalm 119 again sometime. See how King David, a man after God’s own heart, felt about the Scriptures.
