As long as everyone else is venting, allow me to state what I see happening here.

We have people trying to make the Bible politically correct, updating it for modern times. Homosexuality is "great" and women should have their "rights" to be pastors and everyone should be loving and kind, and sweet, and the truth is whatever each person decides for themselves that it should be.

Do you not recognize humanism when you see it? The worship of self? People are seeking to have their ears tickled with what they want to hear.

The Bible was not intended to be upgraded and modernized with the times. In fact, it's just the opposite. Modern times are proof of how far society has gone from God's original plan. What you call discrimination, bigotry, hate and chauvinism are the scriptures from the very mouth of God Himself. If you have a problem with what the scriptures say, then your problem is not with me, but with God. Show me any scripture you think I've misinterpreted and I'll show you how I've interpreted that scripture by other scriptures and NOT through my own agenda, like many people here do. I used scripture to present my points of disagreement. You have used accusations and snide remarks.

I explained that the Holy Spirit only resides in the hearts of born-again believers who obey God's word to someone who didn't know that. Someone who was believing the lie that the Holy Spirit is in EVERYONE'S hearts. There is no scriptural basis for that and to die believing that, being content with that, would have dire consequences to this person! Some of you are content for that to happen as long as she is happy and it makes her feel good. The gospel doesn't work that way. I presented scriptural truth. I wasn't cruel and I wasn't unkind. No one can come to the Truth by believing a lie and letting time go by so they can be comfortable and happy.

Show me once in scripture where Jesus did that with anyone? He was honest and truthful with people, even if the words came out strongly. I said what I said because I do care about that person. If I didn't, I wouldn't have responded at all and just let her go on believing a lie. Remember the saying, "Your best friend is the one who tells you the most truth."

The Word is sharp and it cuts, not cruelly, but in order to save.

Hebrews 2:12-13, "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account."

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. So is His word. And we must all one day give an account to Him. How we used His word, whether in belief and obedience or to twist it to our own purposes is part of that accounting.

St. Augustine said, "If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself."

This is what many people here are doing.

How on earth did I blow you off? I speak with other Christian women on the boards, and in Direct Messages, all the time. You wrote to me and I responded back to all of your messages. Whether a person is a man or woman makes no difference whatsoever.

You wrote to me first with encouragement....I responded back and put my name which is very female, and you never responded back. I asked you many questions, and after reading your posts I realized why you didn't respond back. I find you to be very sexist and arrogant. You need to go back and read BigThirsty's post and ponder on why you feel the way you do about women.

This has nothing to do with scriptures....it has to do with men taking one little scripture and running with it in order to control women. This is not of God, it is not in ANY of Jesus' teachings, and the only people re-arranging or interpreting things however they please are men when it comes to this one scripture.

Who was the first person that Jesus spoke with when He rose from the dead? What did He tell that "woman" to do? Get over yourself and your prejudices. We are created equal and are to be treated as such.

Dotl,
I never found Simple living to be what you are suggesting and stating. Frankly some women need to be controlled, as well as some men. There is no sexism in reality.
He didn't tell the women to preach the gospel. 12 men, and then more men.
There were and are great women in Christ, they have their place, as well as men have theirs.
Tekla was a convert of Paul, she was phenominal, and holy. She did not go about teaching in church, she lived and let her light shine, and went on to the Kingdom of God.
I don't pretend to know exactly why the churches were set up this way. But to think it not scriptural is intellectual dishonesty.

godspeed,

freedom

Its its difficult to tell who is blind in this discussion.. those with open eyes who realize context and timing of text.. or those with closed eyes who view the text through a 2,000 year old lens.

All I know is if Jesus died on the cross so women couldn't be leaders in church.. then I've obviously missed the point of what Jesus was about.

Yes, each person SHOULD and is able to decide for themselves. If you want to go to some fundamentalist church that thinks gays should be in concentration camps, blacks should be slaves, and women should shut up and sit in the back row, be my guest.

My church has a female pastor and gay people are accepted as they are. Your OPINION is that my church is wrong, hell-bound, etc. But I couldn't care less.

Why am I not surprised to hear this from you? It's funny how the Bible says there will be no females or males in heaven, nor will any be married. If men were so wonderfully important as they believe they are, then it would only make sense that only men would be in heaven. What will men do without their ever important genitals? Your reasoning to me is no different than Muslims believing they will have 70 virgins waiting for them in heaven. Utterly ridiculous.
