I am a fundamentalist also.. It just means that we believe the Bible is the final authority. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and that there are no errors.
We believe the Bible is perfect and has no need for peoples own "interpretations"

it is kinda like a basketball game.. there are "fundamentals" to the sport.... ( number of players, size of the hoop, size of the ball....) and if you change the fundamentals because someone wants to use a bigger ball... and such.. you change the sport.... you know what I mean?

Biblical fundamentalists believe the Bible is literal.... Some say Mary was the sinless mother of Jesus...and even pray to her and bow to her.. My Bible says she took her sin offering of two turtledoves to be sacrificed.. Some think they have to ask forgiveness of sins from a priest... In my Bible Jesus said.. Noone comes to the Father but by me, Some people don't believe a loving God would send someone to hell... My bible says there are people in hell right now.. in eternal torment..Some people think they will go to heaven because they have been a good person.. my Bible says that a persons righteousness is as filthy rags....Some people say.. basically we believe it is God's way.. OR NO WAY.

Yes, I believe all of that, and I also believe that a person must be baptized ...to wash away their sins, to put them into Christ, to recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit, and to be saved.

And one must continue in the doctrine of Christ until death, because they can fall away and be lost.

Not in God's eyes.

If you do as He says, then there is promise, if you do not as He says then there is no promise.

1 John describes one who is born again, i havn't met any that say they are fit the description.

St. John says that every man that is born again, can come and go as the wind and you don't know where they came from or where they are going, like some of the apostles could do and other true livers of the word.

godspeed,

freedom

I am not sure what you are referring to. Can you give me a scripture?

1st.
Just exactly what is a Fundamentalist Christian? I cannot find such a designation in the scriptures, and yet I keep hearing the term.
2nd.
What do you mean when you say you are a 'born again' Christian ?
It is my understanding of the scriptures, that any Christian has been born again, or else they are not a Christian. So the term is redundant.
To me the words "Fundamentalist Christian" conjur up images of a bunch of white folks in a middle to upper class area preaching about the evils of Harry Potter.

Thats just me.. a white guy who grew up in a middle class family that didn't preach the evils of Harry Potter.

I think "Jesus Camp". I think Eric Rudolph. I think televangelists (good and bad). I think conservative. I think probably Republican. I think.. Nascar.

Good or bad.. those are the things that come to my mind..

I define fundamentalist as people who only justify their actions with their belief and / or philosophy.
So there is no fundamental difference between a Muslim fundamentalist, a Jewish fundamentalist, a Buddhist fundamentalist etc.
What they all have in common is that they have a narrow view on reality; only their belief/philosophy is right and the rest is all wrong.

1Jo 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1Jo 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
This is not when Jesus returns in the end of days, this promise of for anyone that actually purifies themselves by living Christ. THis is not the elementary teachings of salvation, this is the teaching of the divine nature, holiness, the promise for the few that will live and keep His commandments, though it is available to all.
Remember He said to Believers, be gone from me ye that worketh iniquity, i never knew you.

1Jo 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1Jo 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1Jo 3:10 ¶ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

This verse describes those that are born of the Spirit.

Jhn 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

godspeed,

freedom

Yes but how much of what you perceive "fundamentalist" Christians to be could be the result of the media's portrayal of them?....think about it.
