Onan violated the Laws of inheritance. No where does the Bible say anything of Onan violating any sexual conduct law.

In religious context I am about as Conservative and Fundamentalist as you can possibly find.

My church is adamantly 'Sola scriptura'.

It is liberal thinking that allows the philosophies of man to enter into a church and accept Mans logic in place of God's Word.

Which is why I asked for Bible passages to support these doctrines.

It is a human condition so I doubt that "it" will ever go away since it is necessary for human health.

Masturbation isn't listed as a sin in the bible. Maybe the aid of pornography or thinking of someone whos not your spouse may make it one.

Masturbation is not a sin, certain forms of coveting are (arguably when it has to do with someone else's property, but thats another discussion). Actually, recent studies have shown that it is actually very beneficial for the prostate especially with older men because it helps flush out free radicles. The verses (aside from the coitus interruptus Onan story) that use to be used to condemn masturbation are now more widely used to condemn homosexuality.

1COR 7:8-9 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn [with desire/lust]."

Many people do have self control problems. But God gives more Grace to those who keep seeking even after failing if you don't add to the fire/burn in developing an uncontrolable lust by watching porn, having bad company and bad communications, and rotten sitcoms and the like. Rather set yout heart and mind on things above and you will overcome. Grace is given only in seeking and doing the will of God not for self indulgence. The promises are given to those who overcome by the growing process and not by being perfect in an instant. God will help you if you don't just give up and nullify Grace altogether by seeking other outlets that will harm you or another greatly. Use the sense God gave you.

That's where it is! In Corinthians. I remember studying this in school.

Works great for those who have the pick of the litter early on. Marry someone I'm not attracted to or burn? Today, most people would keep burning. St. Paul was somewhat "disconnected" from reality when it came to sexual matters. Many scholars even think his words should not be taken literally. Furthermore, his advice is certainly out of touch with today's times and the litigious climate on the marital playing field.

Yes, the Words of God.

Could you share with us the passage from which you derive the doctrine that "Grace is only given if" ?

I would like to review that passage.

God's promises are given to all.

They are not restricted to only a select group, unless God says they are.

It is only God who can decide such things. Not Man.

You are a little too curious for my liking.

No. I masturbate when ever I want to. And I am a Christian. I was never taught that this was wrong - not by my church or by my parents.

Where do people come up with this?
