Why is there so much FEAR? (hell, punishment, church, belief)

God will allow us to endure all and the church will not die.
Other than trying to do his work, what more do we REALLY need to be concerned about?
We need to be responsible stewards of his creation, follow his basic commandments [not saying levitical codes here], and try to be Christ to our fellow humans.
What is there to be scared of?
I think Ghandi got it right when he said so few Christians understood their Christ - - - [he was refused admission to a church in South Africa due to his color but loved the teachings of Christ]

Ghandi was right, Christianity is a religion built on fear; fear of displeasing a vengeful god, fear of hell. Ghandi was not Christian but he still respected that religion, as he did all other religions and philosophies. If only Christians could learn to respect other religions in the same way.

If Ghandi believed Christianity was a religion based on fear, he really never understood Christianity.

Hi grannynancy,
Doomsday is coming in terms of the flesh in the next 100 years or less for all of us. So you got me .
1 Corinthians 15
43it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

No No No
Ghandi loved the teachings of Jesus
He wanted to go to church and was denied access
He saw the hatred and oppression and horrible acts done by Christians but loved Christ
I guess what I am saying [and got us sidetracked on Ghandi] was that what is there to fear? There is nothing to fear - even if we loose everything and our lives, we still have God.
I threw in Ghandi because he paid for his noviolent activism with his life but in the process of that life accomplished so much. But Ghandi aside..............
People just seem frantic, wringing their hands, etc..........that is all
Interestingly enough, as someone who has no belief in any deities or afterlife or punishment in the afterlife, I have no fear regarding my life OR death. I only feel happiness and freedom and anticipation of what the next day will bring.
