Another first -- woman to give inaugural sermon - CNN.com

"I hope that my message will call us to believe in something bigger than ourselves and remind us to reach out to all of our neighbors to build communities of possibility."

Great gospel, sign me up! Cannot wait for this empty, universalist sermon

Would you prefer a sermon calling for Holy War in the U.S.? The Fundies vs. everyone else who's "hellbound"?

"Holy war"? I have no clue what you are talking about? I would prefer someone who actually knows the gospel.

I was talking about the fundamentalist belief that only fundamentalist beliefs are correct and other religions and Christian denominations are wrong. You know, a devisive sermon, when you're talking about a sermon that's supposed to be for all the American people, not just certain denominations within Christianity.

I've totally given up on the ideal that current politics offers anything monumentally sound, with the possible exception that governments do have a fundamental purpose of maintaining good laws and a police force to enforce them.

Worldwide, morals among governments, seem to be at low tide. They seem to be intrested in popular support, not spiritually sound leadership. They have done like Pilate, who judged JESUS CHRIST and found no fault in Him. Then he turned right around and condemned Him to the cross anyway, because he wanted the popular support of the people, more than to do what's right.

I try not to waste any time watching what those poor people do and say.

So your saying that she doesn't know the gospel? Isn't that like judging someone? So how do you know she doesn't know the gospel because she is a woman? I know many great woman that know the gospel my wife being one of them.

Fundy believes his understanding of the gospel is infallible . . . so ANYONE who understands the gospel differently does not know the gospel according to him.

Well, if he dislikes women ministers, wait till he also sees this juicy tidbit of news just out today !!!

This'll really be a "Fundy Field Day"

CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive - Openly gay bishop to deliver first inauguration event invocation « - Blogs from CNN.com

Personally, it's none of my business what Mr Obama does. He and others are free to do as the so wish!!!

Seems to me that if Obama wanted to get his bases covered, he would have had a lesbian minister offer an invocation.....would have had a tremendous impact on the fundamentalist world.

Is there a person (preferably somewhat nationally or denominationally known) who you would have picked instead?
