pretty much sums it up..also if they can scare you into coming back by threatening you with eternal torment in flames of real fire, and as you said lay heavy guilt trips on you then they make money. The way they do that is by carrying a bible around and swearing to you that all of that is in there. Plus, they say it say it so loudly and so confidently that people believe it. They help shape your opinion about what the bible says and people follow like sheeps to slaughter. We should learn from the pharisees and the teachings of Jesus. We should do some real bible study. Ask God to help us discern between the physical teachings of man and the spiritual teachings of God.

A modern day Pharisees are teachers of false doctrine...period. wrong theology, wrong attitude. Jesus would not have had a problem with them if they were seeking the things of God but they weren't. They were leading people to hell.

One minute, HOT!! I mean BURNING UP for Christ! The next day.......cold and frigid. And yet again............lukewarm, going with the "flow". MAKE UP YOUR MINDS TO WHOM YOU SERVE! TO WHOM YOUR ALLEGIANCE LIES!! What did He called you? Oh yeah................ HYPOCRITES!!
Jesus said it before I did. I just know how to discern them. Do you? May God have mercy on US ALL, in these last days.

Betsey...have I told you that you often bring to mind for me that song by Amy Grant that says "in a little while we'll be with the Father can't you see Him smile"? (not sure of the name of it)

How many of us would be able to testify to the "truth" without the admittedly flawed and imperfect church? We hold the body in contempt and yet we are the body? Do we try to heal the body or do we just kill the wounded? Should we instead pluck out the eye or cut off the hand to keep the body pure? and who would do that?
If we (mostly) all agree sin is forgivable, why then should we not do the same for the church? and thereby confirm that forgivenss lives in us?
Isn't it the same thing to condemn the whole body for flaws and condemn ourselves for sin? and whose "work" is that?
Rom 12:1
Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice – alive, holy, and pleasing to God – which is your reasonable service.

One thing for certain, there is a God. Apparently, all the facts about this God are not important to know otherwise, there would be no question or controversy regarding God. I doubt that we will be given a written test that we must pass before we can progress according to God's plan for us.
Obviously, there are many whom God created that cannot, or ever can, comprehend a God.
All the different beliefs of religions have led to wars, discrimination, abuse, human sacrifice, torture,genocide,etc.. These different beliefs are really about man, not God. Men, in fighting for their God, neglect the very values they are fighting for!
