I'm very sad at the moment and was wondering what Bible verses can bring back that joy in my heart. Thanks from a broken heart ballerina.

Ps 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

Isa 35:10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Isa 51:11 Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away

Zep 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Matt. 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The one in Isa. 35 is a song. I find that singing Scripture is very comforting.

Also read all of Psa. 91

And always remember the 'joy' of the Lord is your strength.

Joshua 1:9 "I command you, be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go".

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope".

I'm so sorry to hear that MBB...I too am feeling that way today. I'll share with you some verses that mean a lot to me. I need to post them for myself also.

John 15:18-19

"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."

Psalm 51:17
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

I don't know why you are so sad, and I don't know if these will help you but for some reason the above verses always make me feel better.

O God, you will not despise my broken spirit; O God, you will not despise my broken and contrite heart. O God, I cannot bear one more minute of this life. O God, please send your Son Jesus who our souls so desperately long for. Amen.

Romans 8:22-23

"We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies."

I am groaning inwardly. I pray that God will allow a more tolerable day tomorrow for both of us. God bless.

This is one of my favorite passages of scripture and includes my life verse (which I have bolded)...I hope it brings you encouragement.

Isaiah 40:28-31

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Ps.40:1-3
I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.
He has put a knew song in my mouth~ Praise to our God; many will see it and fear and will trust in the Lord.

Ps.34:17
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.

Isaiah 26:3-4
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever, for you Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!! I've been reading psalms and singing "This is the day" one of my favorite songs!!!! Isaiah 26:3-4 spoke to me. My thoughts need to be fixed on Jesus no matter how bad things get. Makes me think of Peter when he tried to walk to Jesus on the water. I'm letting all this "what if" stuff sink me down. I guess I need to take my leap of faith and walk across to him. John 15:18-19 also spoke to me. My husband resents me because I became a Christian so he left me and five kids for a coworker. He said my beliefs were a problem. She hates me too. I helped watch her kids for free thinking she might lose her job. I tried to do good but got burned in the worst way. Now I know that I need to divorce him but I've been praying for months hoping for a change of heart, but he's only getting worse. I need to go!!!!!!! It hurts so bad, worse than death maybe. I love God's word and it gives me so much comfort reading it. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!! Day of the lord, I pray you'll have a better day too.
