QUOTE=bignebula;7859480]Even if you believe that no one can keep the commandments, does that mean its ok to turn around and lie or steal. how do u know what sin is without the law?

I hate to break the big news to you guys, but the Law is very much still there.

we're not saved by it, we're saved by grace through faith. and faith without works is dead. Gods Word clearly says this.

So, we keep Gods Commandments because we are saved.

IF YOU LOVE ME, YOU'LL KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS JOHN 14:15

Gods law is just like a mirror showing you the dirt on your face.
It doesn't clean the dirt off. It shows you the dirt.

But does this mean we don't clean the dirt off?

Its truly sad what beliefs have creeped into the churches today.
basically, people are believing what they want to believe.
they listen to their preachor and don't study Gods Word for themselves. No wonder, there is so much moral decay in this world. People want to throw their 'moral compass' away. Even Heaven has Gods Law there. Remember Lucifer?

Both the Old and New covenants clearly have Gods Law. Even before Moses, they were aware of Gods Law. Why would Cain flee, after killing his brother Abel? Why would Adam and Eve cover and hide, after disobeying God?

Jesus dying did not abolish the law. He came to fulfill it. Scripture is too clear on this.

And for those of you who think Im judging. This is not judging. God will be the final judge on those who are trampling on His law. This is preaching the gospel to the world.

“The Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached to the whole world as a witness and THEN the end shall come.” (Matthew 24:14)

Like Paul, John describes the saints as "those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus" (Revelation 14:12)

We are saved by Grace through FAITH in Jesus Christ who fulfilled the Law and imparts His righteousness to us by the finished work of Calvary.....however faith without faithfulness is flawed......i.e. We should strongly desire to crucify the flesh and obey God.....If we continue in sin after comming to a knowledge of the truth.....we should question our "faith"......Is it genuine?? Is it true repentance??......Only God can judge that and He is no fool.......He knows the inner thoughts and motives ......we are all naked before Him.......... every believer should examine themselves and humbly ask the Lord to guide them and keep them from sin..........all the while knowing that the Lord will forgive not one time but seventy X seven ............BUT DO NOT TEST THE LORD or TRAMPLE ON THE BLOOD OF JESUS.........obey God......Conclusion: Praise be to God who sent His Son to save sinners.

I'd be interested in knowing if the Kupps have read the entire New Testament in full, twice, with extremely careful consideration to the mystery of salvation.

I'd also like to ask why they seem to utterly dismiss the fact that sinning against the spirit means "turning your back on God", or rather, apostacy. Willfully sinning, in some scriptures, is referring to the final sin of apostasy, and not the 10 commandments. It seems as though the 2 of you believe there is no way to get to heaven if you sin. This seems to completely and utterly violate the entire new testament. You seem not to speak of justification, santification, perserverance of the saints, or the calling by the Holy Spirit, which guides us toward righteousness in our daily walk with Christ.

You seem also, if you'll pardon my saying, to be totally ignoring the commandment Jesus gave when He said the old law takes a back set to the new law.... which says, love God with your whole heart, mind and soul, and love your neighbor, if you are to abide in Jesus. These are the commandments Jesus keeps referring to.

Encouragement, encouragement, encouragement is what is demonstarted in Paul's and Jesus' theology. Jesus went to His grave as He repeatedlt advised and pleaded with the unbelievers to BELIEVE and they will be saved. He did not keep saying over and over "Follow the 10 commandments! Don't forget to not draw pictures of God! Don't forget to dedicate the 7th day to rest and holy acts! Don't commit adultery!...." Yes, there is much mention of keeping the commandments throughout the Bible, however, deep intense study of: 1- the work of the Holy Spirit; 2- Santification doctrine; 3- and those who are predestinated to salvation before the foundation of the world's beginning, are all topics that reveal the truth about what you are claiming in all of your comments and writings. Some deep doctrinal studies and some word studies may be in order. I come here not to judge, as it seems you are doing. I come to beg of you to concentrate a large percentage of your time on serious intense study of the new testament. And an exegetical study of "works" may help you as well to broaden your scriptural knowledge.

Romans 4 is known for being the greatest, most clear chapter of "by faith only not by observing the law" in the Bible.

What skeptics \ unbelievers do not understand that those who believe correctly, do not advocate abusing grace. As Paul says Romans 6:1-2

1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

.

Actually those commands were from the OT and Jesus was simply quoting them. So they could hardly be a new law.

If you want to know what commandments Jesus was speaking of when he said 'If you would enter life keep the commandments" let Jesus answer the question.

Matthew 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Matthew 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Hmmmm kinda sounds like that old law - right?
