i've always wondered if there was any connection between god and dreams. i know that not ALL dreams are from god, thats for sure. but does anyone think there are dreams that god tries to convey a message to us in. i was wondering all this because i prayed yesterday about differernt topics, and had like 6 dreams last night. i had a couple of dreams where i was facing death and randomly appeared a floating cross that i grabbed that saved my life. i had a couple of dreams about people that used to be in my life, like schoolmates, classmates. and then i had one more dream about a past "lover". anyone feel like god communicates through dreams?

Most definitely!! They may not always be easy to understand, but with me it seems to be more on a personal level of comfort or affirmations from God. I've had visions also, but that is completely different since dreaming is while you are sleeping and visions you are awake.

But I would prefer that God speak to me through a donkey like He did in the Bible. He just doesn't communicate with us the same as He did in Biblical days. Your dreams can come from God, especially if you have been asking to be shown something. That's what happened to me....see my "white horse" thread.

Well, dear.....not ALL dreams are from God.

Our subconscious does most of the crazy, nonsensical dreaming. It's whatever you take away from it. I wouldn't put too much time and effort into it. If it's from God then you'll know it.

Just a note.

Both my Christian husband and mother-in-law have had dreams from God, prophetic or just plain helpful. My husband says that these dreams are not like other dreams; they are incredibly vivid, he can remember every detail for years, and they generally give guidance on some subject - CLEARLY, with no doubts on what the meaning is (although someone else may not see the meaning if told the content of the dream).

I think if you have a dream like that, you won't even wonder if it was from God. You'll know. So in short, if you're really questioning it, it probably wasn't a prophetic dream but it still could have been influenced by God's Spirit. All this is assuming you are a Christian and have God's Holy Spirit inside you; I've heard stories of people who have never heard of Christ dreaming of Him and converting, so that's another kind of prophetic dream.

Middle Eastern people take dreams very seriously, and that's the area our religion started, so I'd have to say God uses dreams to speak to us but we will KNOW if it's from Him or not - God is not the author of confusion.

Katherine

Of course he does. He communicates in many different ways. Dreams is just one way. Have you ever read a bible passage and felt it was 'speaking to you'? Sometimes he sends someone specific to you. Sometimes he puts you in a position where you have to stop and listen--ex; a hospital bed, a homeless shelter, a jail, the possibilities are as numerous as the people he speaks to. He knows each of us and approaches us accordingly. For some people, he has to use many to try to get them to listen and they harden their hearts and close their ears, eyes and minds. That's why he says, Be still and know that I am God so when he talks to you, you'll know it.

I had what I call not a dream, but a vision from God about five years ago about my nephew. In dream when I saw his friends I saw the devil, but my nephew could not see this, when I asked the friends in the dream what they wanted with my nephew they said his soul, and I said you can't have it and then I woke up. I called my nephew the next day and told him about the dream. About two months later almost the exact thing happened in real life.

Of course He does. I'm not sure if you know Pastor Jamal Bryant, he talks about God and Him communicating with us through dreams. YOu should check it out. But yes, I have had God show me or speak to me through dreams.

If you read in the bible you will see that God used dreams to communicate with His people.

Matthew 2:19
Now when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20 saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child’s life are dead.”

Matthew 2:22
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.

These are just a few, and there are many more.
