John 15:18 "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you."

We should feel no pride if we feel hatred by some. We should not actively seek to make people hate us. We should not feel justified by others' hatred.

So many fundamentalists seem to wear it as a badge of honor after they've ridiculed, judged, and condemned others, assuming those others could not possibly know any truth.

dear StirringWaters, you and i (and women in particular, generally) feel this way.
old roman bravery held "oderint dum metuant", i.e. may they hate me, as long as they fear me.. institutionalized power has never failed to operate that way (imho)!

Oh shoot, that's the motto I have been living by

You cannot survive in the cutthroat corporate world otherwise. No other cheek displays

By skipping over the OP, we learn nothing. I hope you have a good day in the Lord, Robin.

LOL, there are some professions where one must be hated by a bunch of people all the time. It's unavoidable.

When I first joined work seven years ago, fresh from college, the first book I was asked to read was the art of war, a chinese book on war. It was part of the training, and aggressive competitiveness was actively encouraged.

The point is, the OP holds good in civil/residential life.
