It is more common to be discourged from studying the Bible then it is to be discourage by Christians from studying other religions. personaly I have been apart of Bible studies where other religions have been discussed not to discredit them but understand what is going on in the world of religion. In my experiance I have never been scared or felt blasfamous in such studies.
So, do you think it's ignorant that you should call religions false and evil, when you really do not know much of anything about them?
I don't need to know about every single other religion and the tenets of each to know that they are false. If it's outside the Word of God, it's from Satan, the father of deception.
Maybe the Christians began the persecutions and they are reacting? Maybe religion is not the factor, and there are cultural, economic and patriotic factors involved? There are lots of variables to be considered.

Yes I have hard of this. And the violence began because of political reasons. The leader of a Hindu political party was murdered by a Christian, and that sparked it up.

When I look at people's opinions on this forum. I get the impression that most people here have not studied other religions much at all. I sense a major lack of knowledge about what Eastern religions, folk religions and other are really all about.
Christianity preaches that all other religions are blasphemy and false idolatry. And Christianity teaches that you must have unbending faith in Jesus to get into heaven.
For these reasons, I think lots of Christians are frightened about studying other relgions. Because they think that to do so might be sinful. Is this true?
I've done quite a bit of study of the cults (mormons, jw's, universalism). I used to be catholic so I know a lot of them, and I've read into islam quite a bit.

I already tried to start up another topic doing this. I tried to have a compartiave discussion between Buddhism and Christianity. But it ended up getting closed down because nobody could remain civil.
