I was talking to my JW friend and he knows his scripture like so many I have encountered. They may have a false gospel that is subject to change from time to time but they have done an excellent job in keeping their doctrine pure, they have not allowed nor welcomed worldly ideas and philosophies to influence their church as we Christians have which is why we have such a mess in our churches and what they teach. It utterly disgusts me everyday what people are preaching on television. Oh Lord I ask to open people's eyes, show them the truth and the error of their ways. It pains me what people believe these days and that it isn't scriptural nor that they even bothered to find out if it is.

My girlfriend was married to a JW. She lived in literal hell because she was not allowed to do anything like celebrate holidays or birthdays. Had to dress right and she had to be careful of her friends. God does not ask that of us. The religion made it that way. That religion won't last. God put us here to enjoy the earth. That means celebrations of our choosing, dressing the way we want and just plain living life to the fullest without dogma or creeds or others controlling us in a way they see fit.

The letter killeth but the spirit giveth life .
2 Corinthians 3
1Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? 2You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. 3You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
4Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. 5Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 6He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. The Glory of the New Covenant
7Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was, 8will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
12Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from gazing at it while the radiance was fading away. 14But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect[ a] the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit
Fundy did you notice Paul said you are a result of our ministry . What is the result of Macarthur and all the other ministers you adhere to ? Could it just be you are in agreement to a teaching ? That is not being a result of a ministry .

"excellent job in keeping their doctrine pure..."
????....LOL
Have you delt with the predictions the JWs have made about the return of Christ in 1919...or his other return in 1970s?
Their teachings flip-flop in efforts to cover-up their false teachings of the past.
Almost everything that the JWs teach now, would have gotten you kicked out of the JWs not long ago.
So this means that everything they tell you they believe today, they could come back to you in a few days and say: "Oh that? we never believed that..."
Did they tell you they once predicted the return to life of King David?
Did they tell you they even built King David a house so that he has a place to live when he returns?
Did they tell you that their predictions of King David failed?
Did they tell you they sold that house?

Hate blinds the heart!!
1John 2:9-11
He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
The command to love is an old commandment because from the beginning God has expected His people to love. Yet it is a new commandment because Jesus' coming has fully shown us God's love and He enables us to live in love.
The mark of the person who lives in the light of the gospel is love for our brother. While love enables God's people not to stumble into sin, hate also blinds a person that all of life becomes a stumbling.
When we allow and begin to walk in self-righteousness it develops a critical spirit.............it deceives and blinds the heart of that one!
We are no longer looking to the Lord Jesus, we are looking at ourselves comparing it to other people and have lost our first love!
The heart becomes hard and the compassion of His love leaves and things become mechanical in our lives....
Blessings

Did I not say it is a false doctrine that is subject to change furthermore if you are going to be critical of JW, you should use more current and valid contradictions. Most of those you stated have been explained already. Doesn't help when me make what they deem fallacious arguments against them, that only strengthens their belief

I tend to disagree...
The way the JWs went nuts looking to 1975 is something I clearly remember...
The question I ask a JW at my door is this,
"Do you agree with this statement - "True, there have been those in times past who predicted an 'end to the world', even announcing a specific date. Yet nothing happened. The 'end' did not come. They were guilty of false prophesying"?
If they say "yes" then I know what to show them next...LOL
If they try to duck around the question in any way I know they are feeling a little "caught" by what they think I might know about their own history....
