Are you in agreement that we are heading for a great depression? Just a matter of time? What plans do you have in place for your family if we do indeed reach that mark?
Well something is coming.....
But I do not worry. My hb and I have been praying about this for a few years now and do believe we are in the Lord's hands and I do know with all my heart He will provide for all that will be our needs if this should happen.

The Lord showed and led us a couple years ago to rid ourselves of all debt and we did.....it is the best thing that we have ever done. The freedom to know that there is nothing in our lives that is dependent to the worlds system.

The scripture He has given us to lean on is ........
Prov.3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Each day I ask the Lord to prepare us, because we really don't know what our future holds. There are too many things that are up in the air.......
And He has directed our paths everyday since. Opening doors, leading and giving us more freedom from this world system spiritually, physically and emotionally. Amen!!!

Blessings

The clock really is ticking on this lifestyle we're accustomed to in this country. The weight of the 77 million boomers coming down the path to dependence will change the whole economic landscape, everyone agrees on that. More wheelchairs than strollers, they say.

Then the borrowing - China really stuck it to us several years ago, buying a ton of treasury notes and flooding our banks with cash. The result? The Fed couldn't raise rates when it needed to, and the mortgage frenzy was on! True, China gave us the rope; but we shouldn't have hung ourselves with it... Obviously, we'll have to make good on those notes and rates will rise, and rise, and rise.

You bet we should get out of debt.

A really big variable is the environment. I heard a report that scientists have found that the 20th century was actually a very wet period, wetter than most all of the eras leading up to modern times, according to the ring patterns of trees that have been studied in the Southwest. What does that mean? We built great metro cities in drought-prone areas, assuming that water would always be a turned-tap away. Now places like Las Vegas, Phoenix and Southern California are scrambling for technological answers as to how the Pacific Ocean could one day be their reservoir - they need to hurry.

Technology. It will advance, and sectors of the economy will flourish as answers to society's ills become reality; but the times of all ships rising with the tide are fading fast. The wise will watch for opportunity, proverbial wisdom is timeless.

I do agree with Betsy that an option for going off grid should be a priority. Own a well, and you will be rich. Acquire gardening skills if you have none. Study the habits of our forefathers, who dug out a life without the amenities we have today. It's humbling to be sure, but I've always felt that the Lord would give this country exactly what She needed.

Humility sure fits.

This is a great post as to what people should be planning for...hadn't really thought about the water.. I am on city water...have a well in the cellar but who knows if it is even still functional if need be. Gardening can be work...but I agree with having gardening skills. Canning skills would go hand in hand with the gardening skills....it's not hard...just takes work...
the kind of work that we as a nation have not endured for many many years.

Speaking of which it's almost elderberry picking time....yum...elderberry jelly...my favorite.

No not really. Most signs show relative improvement in the economy and not one economist anywhere is predicting a depression anymore (that I can find). We aren't out of the woods yet though.. unemployment probably needs to get to 12% nationally (14% true unemployment). Housing prices should.. should be flat for awhile at best.

drinking.. lots of drinking..

Drinking, Bigthirsty? Hope it's a whole lot of HOLY WATER!!

Faith and hope and preparation! I don't think God expects us to sit on our hands and do nothing. Some physical preparation is in order, at least for me, it is! I have children to feed.
