Do you feel as though you are free, as a Christian?
The reason I ask, is that early Christians were killed for their beliefs. And if you think it was simply because they believed in God, you are sadly mistaken. There were lots of gods in those days, in all parts of the world. Proclaiming your god as the one True God was not anything new.
But there was something different about Christians, and it wasn't because of the reasoons you may think. Their belief concerning the world was different. It literally made them an enemy of the state. When Jesus looked upon the kingdoms of the world, and refused to worship Satan who desired to give them to Him, it meant something. Something huge. Jesus lived this way, up until His death, because His Kingdom was not of this world. But He is King of all kings. This does mean something in this flesh. At the same time, He came to set the captives free, by the Truth.
He did the same thing that God did with Abraham. Only Jesus does this for the world, for those who believe. He saves the lost. He sets them free. Having done this, are you free? I mean absolutely free? If not, then we are serving 2 masters, which we are told we cannot do.

I am absolutely and totally free! I feel free, I live freely and I worship God freely. I am free to choose to sin too.. but then I will not be free... so I am free in all aspects of the word free.
I love being free. It means I have no guilt, I have no burden. Christ truly set me free from all of that.

Really? I am talking of the flesh, not the spirit. Of course we are free as Christians in the spirit. I am refering to the flesh.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

No, I struggle with things in the flesh . . . I guess I am struggling with these things . . . because the Spirit . . .is prompted me to deal with these things.
This is an interesting thread . . .but I am not sure if I understand it completely, had a long day, blessings Lifesigns64

The yoke of bondage...were the rules and regulations they were under...rules that no one could follow 100%. We are free, in Christ, because our sins have been wiped away...we have a spiritual covenant that does not require us to work for our salvation (sacrificing, feasts, etc.)...it is a free gift given by God. The freedom comes in the knowledge that there is no more condemnation, no more yoke to be carried...our mediator is Jesus and as long as we abide in Him, we are pure and unblemished in the eyes of God and can go boldly to Him ourselves.
