If the seals, trumpets, bowls, witnesses, 144000, beast, false prophet, millennial kingdom, etc., are allegorical or symbolic, on what basis do we claim that the second coming of Christ and the new earth are literal?

Jesus and Jonah and Moses is the same person? an artistic way of reading the bible? <oy gafilte fish>

Yeah...Maybe the red dragon is literal. And maybe it is a literal chain that binds Satan.

Do you not understand that all those things from the OT were types pointing to Jesus? Think about it.

Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

Where does one see Jesus in the OT? Moses was a type of Jesus. Jonah was a type of Jesus. What's so hard to understand about that?

Oh, my goodness! Jesus is in every single page of the Old Testament. Does one have to see the name 'Jesus' to understand that He is the One spoken of in the priesthood, the sacrifices of the lambs, the serpent hanging on the pole which saved those who looked upon it from death ("He became sin for us")? etc. etc. It is Jesus that is spoken of in Psalm 2 ("Kiss the son lest he be angry..."). It is Jesus that is spoken of in Pslam 22 ("they peirced my hands and my feet"). It was Jesus spoken of in Isaiah 53 ("But he was wounded for out transgressions..."). Oh, yes, the entire Old Testament speaks of Him either (a) directly by prophecy or (b) by types and symbols.

The truth about those things in the Bible that are symbolical...such as the great red dragon, the chains etc. is that they all stand for something tangible. God doesn't give symbols of anything that is not connected with something real.

Symbols, like Jesus parables, are pictures of eternal truth. So though metaphors and other grammatical devices were used to bring forth those eternal truths they all represented that which is real.

So even for those who try to escape the existence of heaven hell-fire, judgment, sin, Antichrist, the mark of the beast, salvation, or damnation, by claiming that 'You can't take that literal' are still confronted with the fact that those symbols and parables stand for things that are very, very real.

Exactly...However what I don't get is when these guys take the symbols and say that they are the reality. A sign does not represent itself. It points to the reality. A stop sign isn't there for no reason. It is there to tell you that you need to depress your brake and stop by a certain point. You see R.R on a sign and you don't just sit there and say...Ohhhh...Look at those big R's!!!

Symbols do not have a 1 to 1 correlation. Heck...Even Hal Lindsay understands that one. Scorpions = Cobra helicopters. Guess if he's around for another 20 years he'll have to find a new military vehicle.
