HE never ceased to be once HE began HIS mission to bring ALL that would come to be engrafted into Israel (the people not the country). I'm not sure how ya'll missed that but it's all over scripture including the Brit Chadash (the so called new testament).

The recitation Yahshuah was giving on "The Tree" (and by the way it wasn't a cross, the pagan symbol of death) but rather a almond tree, in which HE was placed facing East towards the Temple. Oh, sorry to digress. The recitation was that of Psalms 22 in which HE was teaching those at his feet (there was a gathering of people by the way) to HIS last breath, by giving a "confirmation" of HIS Messiahship with this recitation. It described HIM to a tee. His coming and how he would leave this world. HE was by NO means talking to HIMSELF

In the FIRST place there is ONLY ONE YHVH (Elohim) one you would call "god". There is NO other and Messiah Yahshuah HIMSELF stated this time and time again. HE had NO power nor words that were of HIS own but was relating all that the Father gave HIM. HE continually differed to the Father ALL power and glory. Just wanted to set that straight.
It was a cross that Jesus was crucified on. Crucifixion on a cross was the most common form of execution in the Roman Empire at that time. Those who were tried and convicted as common criminals were crucified on crosses and often left to rot on those crosses after their deaths, for people to see. In Matthew 27:32, Mark 15:21, and Luke 23:26, it is mentioned that Simon of Cyrene was pressed into service to carry the cross of Jesus, (actually, the cross beam of the cross, as the upright was already at the site of the crucifixion.)

Jesus came into the world to do the will of the father. He voluntarily refrained from the independent use of His deity. He was tempted by Satan in the wilderness before He began His ministry to use His deity to turn stones into bread. Matthew 4:3.

There IS only one God. And He is the triune God. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The scriptures make that abundantly clear.

And what is also abundantly clear are the multitudes of people who will not acknowledge the truth. Those who profess to be Christian, or as in the case of this poster who apparently realizes that Christ is the Messiah, but rejects Christianity, and yet deny His deity. What an insult to the Lord. Jesus Christ was not first and foremost a Jewish rabbi. He was a Jewish rabbi, but first and foremost, He was and is the Son of the living God. He IS God. He took the form of a man and came into the world to die for the sins of the world.

#1) Why did Jesus ask that question on the cross? Some have said that Jesus purposely set in to motion the events that would lead to his death so that he could fulfill prophecy. This seems to debunk that theory to me totally.

#2) I asked a Pastor who had attended some seminary school if he would explain to me who Jesus was talking to on the cross, basically he explained Jesus was talking to himself.
"When I'am talking to you I'am Pastor, when I'am talking to my wife I'am Honey, when I'am talking to my children I'am daddy, but I'am Pastor to all three of you." He explained
My question is why is it neccessary to believe that God the father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all reside in one body? Does this help to decide whom one should be fellowshiping with?

Matt 27:49
The rest said, Let be, let us see whether E-li-as will come to save him.
KJV
The question asked above is a great one. Many believe it could have to do with the immense pain He was suffering but that doesn't answer the question:

What would cause God to forsake His one and only Son?

Through everything in Christ's ministry, God the Father was in Him and with Him as He always was before creation. So something must have happened to separate Jesus from His Father.

A previous poster, hit the nail on the head in stating that all sin came upon Him and that is what separated Him from God the Father. Let us go further with this thought. Even though the pain and suffering was great it was sin from past, present and future that came upon Christ. All believers accept that but I believe there is more to this than just that simple statement.

Sin is what separates from God since God is holy and nothing unholy(sin) can be in the presence of God. To understand further, We have to look at Genesis which is where Adam and Eve before the fall were in relationship with God. They were in the very presence of God and had a relationship with Him. God told Adam and Eve:

Genesis 2

16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

God told Adam and Eve that on the day they ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would die. When Adam and Eve ate of the tree, did they physically die on that day.....no. Adam lived on for hundreds of more year but God didn't lie. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit they did die on that day......spiritually. When sin came into the world Adam and Eve spiritually died and became with sin and had to be cast out the garden of Eden but more importantly, the presence of God because of sin.

Physical death was a result of the first death in scripture, spiritual death but it was spiritual death to sin that is the focus here. Through Adam and Eve all mankind is born into spiritual death, and it is only through the resurrection of Christ that we are made holy(without sin) to be in the presence of God once again.

Spiritual death is what needed to be atoned for, not physical death because physical death is not what separated us from God. It is correct to state that all sin for all time came upon Christ on the cross but we must take it a step further. In order for Christ to redeem the world unto His Father He took our human form but He did more then just that on the Cross. In order for Christ to redeem us He had to take more then our human form, He had to take upon Himself our very nature. Physical death was not the important thing here(even though it had to be done) it was Christ's spiritual death that answers the posters original question.

Physical death on the Cross would not separate Jesus from the presence of His Father, would God forsake His Son because of physical death? No, Jesus on the cross took upon Himself in every way our very nature to redeem us back to heaven(God's presence.) There is only one thing that could ever separate Christ from God His Father.

Christ's spiritual death.

It was Jesus taking upon Himself, not just the sins of the world but in doing so, our very spiritual death (first death) to sin. This was the only thing that could separate Him from God His Father. For the first time ever, Christ was separated from His Father because of sin. The spiritual death that humanity had suffered since Adam and Eve fell. It was only through this state that Christ could redeem us from the first death/spiritual death. Jesus became like man in every way to reconcile us to His Father and back into relationship with Him through the atonement of sin.

The resurrection on the third day is what many miss. Jesus was resurrected physically on the 3rd day but that was not the important thing. It was Christ's spiritual resurrection which was the important thing. The Physical resurrection had to happen because without it, the spiritual "first resurrection" could not have been proven to have happened. Is not this what we as Christians partake in today through Christ's atoning work? Through the resurrection of Christ, are we not back into the relationship with God and heaven itself through the atoning of our sins? Are we not holy in God's sight because the blood of Christ has made us spotless and perfect as He is?

Christ has made us holy and reconciled us to God. All those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. It was this salvation that Christ took upon Himself the very nature all mankind was under to reconcile us back to God Himself. We must remember that Christ became like us in every way to complete salvation.

This is why Christ on the Cross shouted, Father why have you forsaken me? Only through His spiritual death are we resurrected in Him through the prescious blood shed on the cross.
