June wishes, foremost, to say that she never honestly appreciated the song "Auld Lang Syne" prior to hearing the above rendition. -She always regarded it as some silly little song that she equated with drunken, end-of-the-year festivities, only to be played or heard on December 31st. Which is tonight.
~June has put up this thread as her last "Rock With June" thread. -An 'auld lang syne' if you will...She purposely posted it here, as June is someone who is "big" on, believes in, and cherishes traditions. -So as she began it here in the past year on the Christianity subforum, in the hopes of, and as a means of hopefully off setting the contentiousness and arguing on this forum, in particular, so too, has she deemed it only appropriate to post it for the last time here, tonight.

June would be an idiot, after 2+ years of moderating and being a member on this forum, to think that any of us would ever log on, during any day of any given year, and find peaceful agreement. (For those who wish that, June suspects that many would defect to other more 'neutral' forums. Gardening is always a refreshing option....) For those who have remained here, June offers the following:
If Religion and/or Christianity in particular was anything that we could all unite in our understanding of, June, (the 'nonbelieving moderator') has no doubt that we all would. It would be in all of our best interests. Alas, that in all likelihood shall never come to pass. This is a Message Board. It is, however, none the less a place where we all come together. We come together to argue, debate, strike out, vent, and express our feelings and beliefs. And that's a good thing. So this thread is dedicated and devoted to all of you who post and/or have posted here, with only a few requests:
Post what you will, and/or want. Music, comments, whatever.

We've seen a horrendous economy, a new administration, political contention, more homeless and bankrupt people (both financially and emotionally) in the past year than perhaps since the '60s. On this forum, we've known those who have struggled with a lot: Those who have come, gone, and who still silently remain, "lurking" for reasons that they can only account for to themselves. We've all experienced things in our personal lives that have been challenging if not downright depressing. We have loved one's who died, loved ones who have come and gone, and many of us who have lost jobs, relationships, and even more than can be articulated in term of the stressors experienced in the past year. -The UR's and the ET's continue to battle, just as the nonbelivers vs. those who have faith continue on to uphold and convey their points of belief. So here's the drill:
POST ONE SONG, OR ONE THING THAT YOU ARE GLAD/GRATEFUL FOR, THAT HAPPENED IN 2009.
I'm the youngest of my siblings, but feeling young doesn't stop me growing older. I am truly, truly grateful that no one in my direct family, not Mom or Dad or anyone else older than me, has yet been taken away. I don't know a single moment in my life without them, and that awful moment that I anticipate having to cope with is still yet to come. I'm crying now. We're all still here...!
I've posted this video before but it's suitable to the one thing I've searched through my heart that I find most cause to be deeply grateful for.
Of course I agree with June's post..
I have been on this forum for about three years now and back in the beginning , I would have scoffed at the mention that people you meet in cyberspace are only names on your monitor and will never be real friends..that could not be further from the truth..I have made many friends here and some have become as close to me as my real family..Some don't post anymore and some still peek in now and then, so I hang in here just in case an old friend should happen by..
I am grateful for the friendship, the teachings, the support and the love and tolerance from all of you here on the Christianity forum and for those in the other two forums that I help June moderate..

What am I glad or grateful for at the end of 2009? I'm grateful to have met some of the forum members in person. Not only did I meet them in person but I bonded with them to such a degree that they have become extended members of my family. I served a very religious, very 'true' Christian man and his family ice cream and apple pie after a roast beef dinner. I went to a fabulous wedding in Maine where I discovered the true meaning of friendship. And, I also danced (something I never do) to the tune of "Sweet Home Alabama" with a very special person - someone this forum knows very well.
Thus, I offer these two songs as a memento of the year. The first is in remembrance of my horrendous dancing abilities. The second is... Just a beautiful song sung very well...
