I was thinking about the promise "that thy days may be long..." Do you believe that if you honor your parents, you are promised a long life?
The law also stated that if teenagers were rebellious the penalty was death by stoning. So yes, honoring your parents could indeed offer long(er) life.

LOL! Yeah, when I had teenagers, I often wondered if I should let them live to see their twenties!
But seriously, is this scripture saying that if we honor our parents, we'll have a long life? To me, it sounds like it is, and I'm afraid I really don't see the correlation between how a person respects his parents and how long he is likely to live.
Respect your parents no matter how difficult it may be in certain circumstances..
I think that harboring hate and/or disrespect for ones parents because a bad childhood due to the choices of their parents can lead to emotional stress, which can lead to physical stress which does seem to shorten ones life..
You have to be able to forgive first in order to honor.
Could you quote the book\verese version that you're saying it's from?
My KJV has this:
2 Chronicles 6:31
That they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
Ephesians 6:2,3
Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Okay, so if we honor our parents we will live to a ripe old age?

I see, you're focusing in on the last portion of the verse. What does your version comment about this verse? My version says "that it may go well with thee" and the result is long life.
What\who determines "that it may go well with thee"?
