I was divorced after 14 years in a physical and mentally abusive marriage. I had 3 children. Five years later I married a divorced man. We went to our priest to have our rings blessed. He said that we were committing adultry because we were both married by a priest in the Church and were considered still married. He wouldn't bless our rings, and said that we couldn't receive Holy Communion. I asked him what we could do to rectify the situation. He said that we could try to get an annulment from the Church. He asked my new husband if he was happily married for most of the marriage and he said that he was. Knowing my marriage situation, the priest thought I had a better chance of getting an annulment from the Tribunal. I was granted my annulment and was told that I was in good standing with the Church again, and that I could remarry if I wanted to. I was so thrilled because I could continue to receive Holy Communion. My husband didn't try to get an annulment. Good Luck
