Wouldn't it be nice if we could have just one thread where we could ask questions of one another without anybody telling anybody else that they were going to Hell, that they were under Satan's power or even that they were wrong? I would just love to be able to ask a few people here what they believe on one thing or another or what position their church takes on specific issues without it turning into a huge debate. I love comparative Christianity, and enjoy finding common ground between the various denominations -- not for the purpose of converting people but just of learning.
Somehow, I'm starting to think that's just an impossible dream.

I don't think it is impossible...If we accept the fact that God loves us all the same, therefore why try to make everyone believe our personal doctrine or the doctrine of the religious organization we belong to..
I never could understand why some of us think we have the "truth" when in fact I believe none of us do.
I see many good sincere people people in this forum and many gifts that can be shared..regardless of our differences..

Katzpur,
While I do think there will always be a few who will put in their "you are going to hell" mantra, with work a thread could be kept on topic to explore different ideas, It is hard to do but if you do not respond to the posts that prompt you to defend your religion, and derail the thread from asking people about what they think --- I believe that it could happen. It would take work to keep the thread on topic and there is mods and posters who would help you to do it

You are going to Hell. You are under Satan's power. You are wrong. I'd love to have a huge debate over what you wrote above.
Our beliefs are relative, to our upbringing, any indoctrination, etc. when we believe something we think it is THE TRUTH
The only thing that matters is what the Word of God says. While there may be difficult passages, the fundamental truths are very clear. Post-modernism tells us while there may be a universal truth, we cannot know what it is. That contradicts the foundations of Scripture. The clarity of Scripture is evident, don't be fooled by the moral relativism of a fallen post-modern generation.
