I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota 4x4 v8 quad cab SLT. I drive ALOT (around 3000 miles per month estimated). Last summer I went to the beach and drove on the sand. I hit a rut in the sand doing about 15 mph and the front end came off the ground, then the rear end came off the ground before I could come to a stop. Everthing seemed ok. Still drives and handles fine. The problem is that if I have a somewhat heavy load (1000 lbs or so) or if I have all 4 seats filled with passengers and I hit a bump that causes the back of the truck to dip down abruptly, my ABS light comes on, my brake light comes on, my speedometer sticks at the speed that is showing at the time, and my odometer also sticks. By some accident I found that if I stop, turn off the ignition, start the engine, and put the truck in reverse everything resets and works fine. I have not been able to duplicate this to show to my mechanic and he could not find anything physically wrong. Any suggestions would be helpful (and don't bother with GET A DIFFERENT TRUCK. Brand haters need not respond)
