They took an all wheel drive Avenger, dropped in the Pentastar engine, did some mods to the braking, suspension, and engine, and then called it a rally ready race car. Really? Rally ready? I don't think this car will be racing many world rally races since the required engine size is two liters or less and the competition already gets about this much horsepower from a two liter engine thus giving them an advantage in weight distribution and thus handling capabilities. Now, if dodge had marketed this as an SRT6 model of the Avenger without the rally go fast stickers and big wing then it might be a winner. But to call it a rally car is just plain wrong. Dodge, wait until your next compact car (most likely from FIAT) to try to make a world rally car. Don't try to do this with a sedan already on life support and on the verge of having it's plug pulled.
wow ford has built the best production mustang in it history and dodge avernger AWD 4 door "rally ready race car" while the boss 302 is really a race ready factory car and must people that want that type of ralley performance car would get a WRX STI

Its not about "they know better":
1) They simply wanted a new model without investing.
2) They may had problems keeping manufacturing costs down and that was their solution.
Hardly a recipe to compete in today's automarket.
