Hi Gerri Ann,

I'm not sure, I didn't work there for a real long time. I remember exchanging some gifts one time, and I received a little shell covered box, which I still have somewhere! I remember a few people, can't really remember their names right now.

LL: You can exchange messages directly w/Gerri or anyone here. Just click on their screen name and the link will pop up.
Welcome!
And since you're in Reading, can you tell me whether Sorrento's is still open?

Default Still open!

Yep, Sorrento's is still open and still has the piano bar. I have not been there in several years, but I hear it is still a popular place. The last time I was there, the piano player was named Bob - I hear he is still there. He was very good - not only knew the old songs, but country, motown, etc.

Meir from the Upper Crust/Meir's place is/was the son in law to Mort Keller who owned Sugar n Spice. If the Stage Door was downtown, it may have been owned by a friend of mine's mother and aunts. They were related to the people who owned the Temple Deli downtown.

That's awesome, I love it whenever an old favorite can keep on keepin' on.
Did anybody "reading" (lol) this thread ever go to Ron's Hunt Club in Roselawn? They changed with the times - and the neighborhood - successfully but were no more by circa 2000. Since I still wasn't "old enough" to go there or to any other liquor-selling establishment legally when I moved away, I don't remember exactly where that place was located. These days it's probably been reincarnated as one of the spots in that part of town which are no stranger to trouble and seem to inevitably be named with "Club" as a preface.

Seem to recall that it was in the Tudor-style building just south of
the Valley Shopping Center, maybe one door north of Pilder's.

My step-dad used to go there, back in the day. If you were looking at the Valley Shopping Center, it was on the left side of the parking lot. It caught on fire, which I thought was why it finally closed. In it's place today is a {I believe} National City Bank.

I lived on Catalina from 1962-1966. Spent a lot of time meeting up with friends at "the green steps" -- that cut-through path to Lawn that faced Hermit (which extended through Berkely, Avonlea, Northcutt). I went by recently and that big oak tree is still shading the steps.
