When I lived in Indy they ran TV ads for the 'creation museum", in chicago on business same ad.

My point was there are better things for cincinnati to be known for.

That would be one point of view, then, wouldn't it.

Another might be that we should take great pride in both the fundamentalist religious community we have around our perimeter in the Tri-state and the tolerance by most of us for a differing point of religious dogma even if it challenges our own. Of course, it should go without saying that dogma like that presented at the Creation Museum which is directly from the Christian Bible should be shown the greatest respect and tolerance. I am sure that most persons would be highly reluctant to put up the kind of snide insulting posts we have seen directed against the Creation Museum if the subject matter was an Islamic Cultural Center despite the dogma of Islam being far more abhorrent to most persons. But then, Christian dogma is always fair play, isn't it.

I think extremism of all kinds is fair play. But that's me - I'm a moderate.

Since the post was Harry's Law - maybe not the place to air grievances over Religious tolerance?

Or maybe we go down that road and move the thread to Great Debates?

Just my opinion...

oh my, a creation museum was just compared to an Islamic cultural center.

that is insulting to everybody.

fundamentalism isn't something to be proud of.

Well, I'm pretty sure that about half of all US Protestants are fundamentalists. And, I am not at all sure that the Creation Museum advances fundamentalist dogma. An extreme version of fundamentalism, the Amish, are particularly treasures of our area. I'm very proud of them.

Advertising for the Creation Museum notwithstanding, based on some personal experience I think I can offer some perspective on just how big a deal it is to people outside this geographic area.

To people who believe the Bible is the inerrant and literal word of God, it's a pretty big deal. They've heard about it, and they want to visit it, and they want all their friends and relatives to visit it.

To people who have a different view of the Bible or are disinterested in the Bible altogether, it's pretty much just another roadside attraction. So I wouldn't lose any sleep over whether it gives the area a bad name.

The creation museum is nothing to compare with the Islamic Center, YMCA or the J.

I realize that this has gone way off topic, but my belief is that EXTREME FUNDAMENTALISM" of any religion is where the trouble starts. The far ends of religion cause issues for all, whether Islam, Christian, Jewish etc.

The same is true for government, the far right and the far left both cause me nightmares.

Agreed. We do a disservice to the OP by continuing to talk about either Christian and/or Islamic fundamentalism. The controversy over the Creation Museum has been beaten to death elsewhere.

Default return to topic

I will talk about "Harry's Law."
Completely ignoring where the story is set, I think the show is okay, but not great. However, my mom and aunt both love the show.

I'm kinda in that boat. I won't say its the best law/crime/quirk show I've ever seen ... however, given the dearth of other shows I really like - esp. with the Glades and other quirky shows in hiatus right now - its a nice fun break. My only irriation is that its on against Hawaii 5-0, which I like as well. So while many nights during the week there's nothing I like on - on Monday I have to pick and DVR...

Besides, Kathy Bates does a great job... and there are lots of pretty shoes (which don't seem to do much other than provide a pretty backdrop for the lawyers desks!)...
