Not needed. You described Mt. Adams as to what you want. There is no foot traffic in any of those places except Mt. Adams, HP and Clifton. And your description of what you want is so far from Clifton (think bearded college professors with corduroy sport coats with patches on the elbows), you have two choices. After you have lived in Mt. Adams for a while, you'll move to HP if you are still here. I did. Both had their advantages back in teh day, they still do.

EDIT:

Ooops! There is foot traffic in Northside, but it is persons running from the police.

SECOND EDIT:

I don't really like the west side of Mt. Adams. Look in the center or on the east side. Oregon St. and Baum are the least desirable IMO. You will be looking right at the casino in a year.

I lived on Parkside Pl. and Hill St. and Martin Dr. I think I liked Martin Drive the best. I had a friend who lived at the corner of Pavillion and Fuller which was pretty cool.

OP, I'm kind of wondering if you're thinking you'll find something similar to where you are now in terms of an entertainment district in Cincinnati. How many bars, clubs or restaurants would you expect to cycle through in a typical evening out? Or maybe put another way, what's the size in terms of number of blocks that you're used to now?

Sarah, I think your questions are perfectly reasonable. The OPs previous question concerning foot traffic after 8 PM in several areas of Cincinnati, particularly on weekdays, indicates he does not yet realize the vast difference between Cincinnati and DC. He could hoof it across most of downtown, providing he had the endurance and daring to do so, and not encounter that many places, particularly on a Tuesday night.

Thats a good question .... most of the times maybe during weekdays when it comes down to food and a quick change of pace in the evening, I would prefer to stay within 2/4 blocks. As far as walking capacity on a particularly enthusiastic day maybe I can do half a mile without start complaining how cold or sweaty it is ..... good part of staying in Arlington or DC is that I can get a cab by waving my hand anytime I want if i start walking and get tired ..

You might be waving for a long time in Cincinnati, particularly after dark.

Getting a cab in Cincinnati is not that easy. Only recently was a ban on actually waiving down a cab lifted. Even so, there aren't that many of them. It's not like DC, NYC, Chicago at all. I've known to say that cabs in Cincinnati are just for the tourists, because they aren't something that you can regularly count on for day to day living here.

I believe you may be getting the point relative to downtown. The CBD dominates. During the day there are places for lunch, etc. There is a reasonable enclave of establishments around Fountain Square which at least stay open after dark. The new Banks region on the riverfront between the stadiums should hopefully keep things hopping after the witching hour. But as a late night club scene Cincinnati is not at the top of the heap. The few who can survive on just weekends, are just that a few. There are many who will try and convince you differently, but guess what, many are called but few are chosen. Just look up how long most of them have been in business.

I was looking into the various options .... it seems most of the better properties are 1 year lease ones which is a bummer since that means I need to put in enough thought and care on my first contract .............. The first month i was planning to stay in an extended stay hotel .. but I chanced upon this option .. there are corporate apartments given @2k per month at the property "Current at the Banks" near downtown. One poster in this thread lsrn recommended that ..... it seems its adjacent to CBD and the advertisement in their website says its walkable...... wondering if thats what I should check in to taste out the samples first ...... not sure whats the rate of the extended stay hotels. Will call them up tomm...

that freakin explains many trepidations .... jeez .. how do you expect night clubs and bars to be in business when people cannot reliably travel back to their homes ?? what do the administration expect public to do ? drink and drive ?? ...... its absolute no no in my world .. cause its not "if", its just "when" you do the jail time. .... what I heard is that inside DC there is a zero tolerance BAC legal policy followed.

I agree. The nightclub, bar, and restaurant businesses downtown appear to operate through a revolving door. It seems like some establishment is always having problems or shutting down, and then another nightlife venue moves in, they shut down, and the the cycle continues. It also doesn't help that there isn't really a dedicated entertainment district here and the "adventure" of catching a cab. It's ashame there isn't anything remotely close to "4th Street Live" here in Cinci.
