Hahahahaha! You played right into Kroger's nefarious marketing plan!

Not that I've never done anything like that before ...

I agree. Unless you have to get around downtown, then it makes for a bit of a mess.

Sounds like some big projects could be in the works:

Building a better business district
Four neighborhoods taking the lead on revitalizing rundown commercial strips
Quote:
Not so long ago, Cincinnati was full of thriving commercial districts where shoppers could go to movie theaters, grocery stores, restaurants, butcher shops, bakeries and department stores, all within blocks of one another. As people began moving from the city to its suburbs, though, malls and big-box stores destroyed many neighborhood business districts, leaving corridors of vacant storefronts, litter and speeding cars.

Now four Cincinnati neighborhoods– Westwood, Walnut Hills, Madisonville and College Hill – are taking the lead on revitalizing their commercial strips, spurred on by the city’s new zoning code and an uptick in city-owned property. While revitalization efforts have long concentrated on improving the housing stock, the relationship between housing, commercial corridors and population growth presents a chicken-or-egg question: will more residents boost the business districts, or will more shops and restaurants attract new residents?

Agreed. Despite the mishandling of certain aspects of it, I'd really like to see this project make steady progress.

Historic Jackson Brewery to become performing arts complex
Quote:
On a hillside with a commanding view of the City's skyline, Cincinnati natives Scott Hand and Dominic Marino have quietly begun to transform a piece of local brewing history.

Under the name of Grayscale Cincinnati, the duo is partnering with building owner Historic Limited Liability Company to turn the Jackson Brewery building at 208 Mohawk Street into a performing arts complex.

The current plan includes a 192-seat live theater space and a 300-person music venue with a shared backstage and support area. The remainder of the first floor could include a craft brewery, winery, or a distillery with a tasting room.
