Nah, this whole Clippers mess has been orchestrated so that [internet conspiracy theory] Magic Johnson can buy them and keep them in LA. [/internet conspiracy theory]

I hope you are right. LA is welcome to them and Magic Johnson to go along with them. At this point has to be one of the most tainted franchises in all of professional sports.

I don't think the NBA has a prayer of returning to Cincy. The Cincinnati Bearcats, Xavier Musketeers, Dayton Flyers, Miami Redhawks, Louisville Cardinals are just so much more entertaining. And that is before you get to the big guns in Lexington and Columbus.

I think that Cincinnati would only get an NBA team if it lost the Reds or Bengals. I just don't think the local fanbase can support three major sports teams, but when the NFL finally gets its way and moves the Bengals to Los Angeles, I could see a team moving here, although I think that team is most likely the Warriors and not the Kings or the Clippers.

Hopefully it would be the Kings, since they are really the Royals.

I see Columbus getting a team over Cincy. Just because Columbus does not have any "major pro sport" franchises, and it's a little further away from Indianapolis.

And even though OSU basketball is big, the focus there is on the football, so I don't see it being much competition. Cincinnati is much more of a baseball type of town anyways, legendary culture with the Reds. Right now, Dayton, Lexington, and Louisville are the cities the city that have the best basketball culture in the general area, at least from what I have observed.

Big guns in Columbus, eh? LOL Who was it again that beat Ohio State in the NCAA tournament?

I wouldn't call the Blue Jackets a "minor" pro sport.

The Blue Jackets are a great franchise, they just don't play in a sport that is particularly popular in the US. Thats why I did not consider them to be a "major pro sport franchise", because I do not consider hockey to be a "major pro sport" in the US. Just like soccer, tennis, indoor football, etc are not either.

Also - Ohiogirl81 - your comment regarding OSU in the above post - well played haha

When you say the NFL gets its way, what do you mean? Naturally Los Angeles is a major market, but I think Mike Brown could have landed there years ago if that was his aim. I think he is smart enough to stay where he has the majority control and hopefully hands it down to his daughter and son-in-law. He saw what happened to his father and is not about to let it happen to him.

As far as the Blue Jackets, yes they are a minor pro franchise in what is rapidly becoming a minor pro league. The NHL and the NBA are competing as to who can sink the lowest the fastest.

They both pay players rediculous amounts, and then wonder why they can't keep their heads above water. Can't say the NFL and MLB are any better, but at least they have been smart enough to negotiate television contracts which keep them afloat.

Maybe not here, but in the northeast and upper midwest they would tell you otherwise.

Yet there are cities where the NHL sells out every game so I don't expect the league to fold anytime soon. When I was a kid there were only six teams, now there are 30.
