Hello,

I apologize in advance if this question is redundant but I couldn’t find anything recent on the forum that addresses my concern. So I am hoping to get some help. I am moving to Cincinnati June 24 and not sure where to stay. I will be working in Erlanger Ky so I wanted something close but on the Ohio side. I want to buy but feel I should rent for the first year. I have no kids so good schools are a non-factor. I’m in my late 30’s so partying and nightlife are a non-factor. I just want a safe neighborhood with a short commute under 30 minutes and I am open to taking public transit as well. I have read some older post about how racist Ohio is and it’s really sad that people are still divided by skin color. So I would like to avoid as much racial profiling as possible. I’m pretty upscale so I’m looking for a nice posh place to rent. My budget is up to 2k a month if needed. Any suggestions would be great! Thank you in advance for the help.

On the Ohio side, I'd start your rental search in the neighborhoods of Downtown, Hyde Park and Oakley. If you would like to chop your commute down a bit more, some of the nicer parts of Covington, Kentucky may fit the bill for you as well.

Most of that are low life trailer trash/meth addicts from rural parts of Ohio that no one would pee on if they were on fire. Pay that jobless trash no mind. You won't have a problem here in Ohio. This isn't AL or MS.

If you decide to consider Northern Kentucky, take a look at Ft. Thomas. You might be pleasantly surprised. On the Ohio side, staying within that 30 minute commute will be tough during rush hour. I agree with CincyExpert but would add Mt. Adams (has a nightlife, but also has many older and more settled residents) and the Kenwood Area. Cincinnati can have nice and not-so-nice areas right next to each other, so if you lean more toward the nice, let rent prices guide you.

Budget is 2k a month? Take your pick. Best areas in Cincy are Hyde Park, Mt Lookout, Oakley.

Hello -

I currently date someone in the Cincinnati metro, he lives in Blue Ash and I live in downtown Columbus. I would pick Hyde Park in the Cincinnati area. He's Asian and I'm African American, I mention this because I am always assessing places on how they treat me as a person of color. This area is centrally located and has alot of amenities near Rookwood (urban shopping area), Oakley and not far from the mall. Even though I'm not fond of Cincinnati this area is not bad to live in and it's within a 30 minute commute from your new job.
