I was thinking Northside when I clicked on this thread. Other than that the city is überconservative.

Northside. Definitely. Don't know any other particularly liberal areas.. but there's an "end the war" lawn sign about every other lawn over here. C'mon down!

If I had an answer to your question, I might still live in Cincinnati!

Speaking of Northside, how family friendly is this neighborhood? We lived in Mt. Lookout last summer while my husband had a job with a law firm and we're returning in January when he starts there full time. We have a 1-year-old and will greatly miss the liberal vibe of Ann Arbor.

As a native to the area, I realize there isn't much of a liberal scene in Cincy (Mt. Lookout was liberal-ish but more on the yupster side), but if Northside is where it's at AND it's safe (for a city neighborhood), I will look more thoroughly. Their website makes it look great (northside.net).

Default Northside

Returning to Cincy --

You're moving from Ann Arbor?? Too funny, so are we (Ypsilanti actually).

We'll be working in the suburbs, so actually we're building up North in the surburbs (Lebanon area). Pretty conservative, but we'll have an acre .. so I'll survive.

I've been living in Northside with my brother's family for the past 6 months, while our house in MI was on the market (just sold - thank God). I think Northside is pretty cool. If I was going to work in the city, I would have looked there seriously to buy a place. But, the yards in Northside are smaller (city lots), and my husband and I wanted to be a little closer to work, and have a BIG yard. Hence our choice for the suburbs.

Northside seems to be very family friendly, but there are definitely still good parts and not as good parts. Generally you want to stay N. of Chase. S. of Bruce. Near the "core" city area. I would say W. of Hamilton Ave., is a little better than East. But my brother is on Pullan, just E. of Hamilton, and its quite nice.

They probably had 200+ trick or treaters, it was really quite a site.

I'd check it out, its definitely a liberal feel (lots of hipsters, goths, punks, and music scene) - but with a lot of younger couples raising a family. All the shops and stores seem to be very family friendly as well - with children's art contests in the cofee house and lots of festivals.

good luck to you!! Its not AA, but I'd say it ain't bad.
