First streetcar tracks to be placed mid-October

Quote:
The tracks are expected to arrive in early October, with the first tracks being laid on the east side of Elm on or around Oct. 15.

That date is about a month ahead of a previous projected schedule.

There is still a city council candidate up for election in November for whom a central part of his platform is turning this thing into the Cincinnati Subway 2.0. Remember that absurd fact when you guys go to vote in the primary tomorrow. Don't vote for John Cranley.

Anyone know how the tracks will be laid? Will they be immersed in concrete to further reinforce their permanency?

This is good news. The laying of track should let the people know the streetcar is definitely coming.

I am not a voter in Cincinnati but urge those who are to not vote for John Cranley. At this point in time he is just a disruptive force and doing nothing positive for Cincinnati.

The next time the streetcar should be argued is whether to build the uptown link or not.

But first the downtown loop needs to be finished so everyone can see its merits or lack of same. Appears to be well on its way to that goal.

I tried to rep you but need to spread it around. I had your position wrong. I assumed you were just a relentless critic, but I was wrong. Cheers!

I'm glad to hear the tracks will finally be placed, and that it will be ahead of time. There are a lot of Cranley signs in Gaslight Clifton, which isn't my favorite thing (partially because of the candidate and partially because who chose that coloration?). I've had a few conversations in coffee shops about how sometimes democracy means admitting defeat, but that mentality is alien to some of his supporters. I can't imagine how damaging to the city's reputation (and ability to do anything in the future) it could be to see the streetcar stopped now.

He wants to see progress. Everyone does. Well except Smitherman and company.

a good credit rating is alot more important for attracting companies and jobs to cincy than a streetcar, even tuscon az and small cities are getting streetcars, its a novelty, commuter rail on the other hand is progressive and along with good highway access, thats what will bring jobs and prosperity to cincinnati

Kjbrill as much as you hate it, this city needs to move forward, yeah it might fail or it might have some positive feedback. This city needs to take chances.

Taking chances is all well and good. So let's have the building of the downtown loop of the streetcar be the first indicator of how well it is received.

Yep, couldn't agree more Mr. Brill. I know we have argued this topic into the ground, but I think we have found an accord of late. Progress is underway, some development is starting to happen along the downtown routes. Let's see where this goes and how well it's received.
