Perfect example why it is always a good idea to get a second opinion.

Since he fled the US to avoid prosecution, I hope our courts can go forward with confiscating any property of his in the US and continue with any malpractice suits he may have had insurance for. The insurance companies may take a hit, but that is the business they are in.

Can't believe the number of people he may have affected.

First complaintant awarded vindication against Dr Durrani in malpractice suit. The first malpractice suit against Dr. Durrani went to the jury which decided in favor of the plaintiff. At this rate, we could be looking at a history making judgement, considering the number of suits which have been filed. If the good doctor had malpractice insurance in all cases, this may end up being one of the all-time largest medical insurance losses.

Details in the malpractrice suit.

The jury awarded Crystal Pierce, a 33-year-old mother of two from Green Township:
> $500,000 for pain and suffering,
> $40,000 for lost wages,
> $500,000 in punitive damages.

If this is just one of many, we are looking at an iceberg. And these are just civil suits, before we ever get to the Federal complaints against him. In my opinion those who held his malpractice insurance are the ones really holding the bag. Some of them may be in over their head.

Makes no difference whether he does or not. It is the malpactice insurance companies who will be paying these judgements, whether he is here or not. I am not aware of anything which limits their total liability. Each case should be a separate incident. There may be an insurance company or two which goes broke over this, and it may affect the manner in which malpractice insurance is written.

These are civil cases and separate from the Federal Indictments filed against him. So I don't see any particular waste of money here. Many of the complaintants will collect from the insurance companies.

There has to be a limit on his malpractice insurance. Frome the number of people that he messed up, that will run dry. Next, are the hospitals that he was affiliated with liable?

The B$%&#*D should have been in jail. Everyone knew he had the means to skip.
