It is always nice to see some old footage. Tony Sands was a class act. He also did the weather every weekday on Ruth Lyon's 50-50 Club Show. He also mentioned Peter Grant who was another class act.

For awhile, when WLW-T's sister stations, WLW-C Columbus, WLW-D Dayton, and WLW-I Indianapolis ran their own little network, WLW-T was the champ of the local TV scene. They had the largest stable of personalities and the broadest programming.

I know WLW still retains recordings of old programs of much better quality than the footage posted on Youtube. From time to time they will show excerpts from some of the Ruth Lyons old Christmas Shows which still show well. The Cliff Lash orchestra, singers like Marian Spelman, Ruby Wright, Bonnie Lou, and Bob Braun. Bob Braun deserves special recognition as he not only became Ruth's sideman, but upon her retirement in 1967 took over the show and brought it through 1984. That is a run of 17 years, more than double what most TV shows last.

When I look at the annals of Cincinnati broadcasting history, two names stand out - the Brauns and the Clooneys. But Ruth was in a class by herself.

mike1003 ... These excerpts from WLW-T's past are precious.

And anything which shows my doll of the airwaves, Ruth Lyons I have to watch. Cincinnatians have to realize the broadcasting legacy this city has. 1st NBC affiliate, how big is that? 1st TV broadcast of a MLB night game, how big is that? 1st All Color TV station, how big is that? And why did much of this happen - Powel Crosley Jr.

Yes, it was an era to dream about. Those of us old enough to remember Moonlight Gardens, even old enough to remember some of the BIG BANDS who came there. We will never forget that era.

Go out at intermission and ride the Shooting Star. A couple of dips on the roller coaster, and then a couple of hours back in Moonlight Gardens dancing. Name me one place in the US which had an ambiance like this. Quite frankly there was none. It was the greatest Amusement Park in the US!

Yes we remember it. And those who enjoyed it definitely remember it.
