Hey Everyone,
I was looking at a house online to maybe purchase in the near future if I decide to leave Pittsburgh. and I stumbled across a house that I might be interested in. I was wondering about the area it is located in, if it is safe, what-not. It is here http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...te=oh&zipcode=

if you can't access the link the house is located on fairmount ave.

I don't know alot about Fairmount in particular but that area of Cincinnati in general is fairly poor and rough. I'm sure you could get a great deal on a fix-er-upper home in that area but as far as living there, I wouldn't recommend it.

That's a fairly run-down area; I have no personal experience to relate about its safety but I would think that it's rather dicey.

If you're into urban pioneering, though ... you just might start something!

Walnut Hills is an upgrade over Fairmount, but I can't really tell you by how much. I know there's still a substantial amount of crime and drugs in that area but there might be some stable parts. Someone else would probably have better info.

Default Stay Away

Both areas are high crime, high drug usage. Stay away from both of them.

From your queries, looks like money may be the main object in your neighborhood selection. What kind of a budget are you looking at?

Something reputable I could buy in cash for 50 or less. They have places like that here in Pittsburgh, I just happened to be browsing on craiglist one day and stumbled across them. If however I found a nice enough bargain in Cincinnati I would probably buy it. If you know something I am open to suggestions. I appreciate all the feedback guys.

Norwood maybe? 45212 They might be about 60k. They would make good rentals and being close to Hyde Park and Xavier U might help.

I was looking in Norwood over the summer, and there wasn't much for under 50. In fact there wasn't a whole lot for under 100. You might get the occasional foreclosure, or total gut-job, but not a lot of choice. Norwood's prices have really soared as it has become more "Oakley Light" (which would be Hyde Park Light Light!!!)

Check Northside. A eccentric neighborhood, safer than some of the one's you've been looking at, and with the condominium project on track (I think its about to be improved) they may see a decent increase in value there in the next 5-10 years. Oh, and there's a chance you might find something for under 50, if you're willing to do a lot of rehab.
