I've not been able to get there YET - it doesn't help that my beloved Amma's Kitchen is in the same neighborhood. But its praises have been sung loudly by many and for many years.
China Gourmet in the ground floor of The Regency has its fans, though the Goyguy family has tried it and found nothing to be jump n' shout good. Part of the experience has to be dining in. The place is dark-paneled with a relaxing atmosphere - subdued Asian decor instead of red paper lanterns, thoughtful spacing of tables that nicely mitigates noise, etc.
NKY, particularly around the Florence Mall sprawl, seems to be a magnet for Asian casual/take-out spots lately.

There must be a blue moon tonight since I'm in agreement with wilson again. A lot of people eagerly jump on the bandwagon, suddenly remembering there are less fortunate humans out there, when Thanksgiving rolls around. But I bet this "spirit of giving" drops off the radar by the night of Christmas Eve.

I suspect most movie theaters not only stay open for Christmas but do a pretty brisk business. And the zoo never takes an off day. (Go at around 3 in the afternoon to beat the worst Festival of Lights traffic, then stay 'til after sundown to see why cars back up all through the neighborhood.)

Oriental Wok is in the Regency. Not so great.

CG is across from District 2 on Erie Ave. Very great.

I was thinking more along the lines of things to do rather than places to eat (there's always Chinese) and, actually, the zoo ISN'T open, or that would be my first choice! Paoli Peaks is; too bad about Perfect North. Not EVERYONE lives in a Christmas card or Target commercial, after all...

My post up-thread wasn't a complete fiasco, 'cause I just checked the zoo's Website and they will be open on the 25th (as they, in fact, are each day of the year.) However, the Festival of Lights goes dark between the 23rd and 26th. Missing a lavish LED display isn't that much of a big deal when there are lion cubs to say hi to!

Their website info is very confusing -- it's hard to tell if they mean the zoo or the lights -- so I have actually e-mailed them -- twice -- and was told both times that the zoo itself will be closed Christmas day. Maybe three times is a charm? Agree; I could not give a care less about LED!

Should have mentioned this earlier -- sometimes bowling alleys are open on the holidays (chinese food, bowling alleys, movie theatres... that's a party!!)

Being from Michigan (Detroit-Metro) originally, bowling is an always-appropriate activity. Though unfortunately I've not done much here due to difficulty finding lanes near Lebanon.

A quick google search turned up "Stone Lanes" (Norwood)

http://www.stonelanes.com/bowling.as...=Holiday+Hours

according to their "Holiday Hours" they are open on Christmas Evening (5pm-1am). They are also open on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

(A lot of bowling alleys have big New Year's Eve parties, if you did not already know that).

I know nothing about this alley, but from their website its 28 lanes (that's a relatively good sized alley), and from the picture the lanes look newer and they have electronic score keeping (all elements that suggest this bowling alley is not some sad forgotten throwback to the past, but a well-maintained, up-to-date, thriving facility).

Anyway - another option for you.

Maybe the Krohn Conservatory in Eden Park? They'll be exhibiting poinsettias galore along with other seasonal plant life. And it always smells so good there! Whether or not the zoo is open (and I maintain it will be) it's not far between the two places:
East on Erkenbrecher (every Cincinnatian's favorite street name) to Burnet
South on Burnet to MLK
East on MLK to the end (Victory Parkway)
Victory Parkway south into Eden Park; "you can't miss it" on your left

Failing one or both, Mt Adams is just beyond Eden Park and you're bound to find some watering holes with a light on there.

The Christmas exhibit is up at the Krohn Conservatory. My out of town visitors last weekend were quite impressed, particularly with the train setup.

Is Krohn's open Christmas Day? I notice that everything costs $25 (the conservatory, the zoo, the aquarium, and the ski slopes; not sure about bowling), but I guess that's the price of poker.

I will personally call the zoo and report back on this forum; inquiring minds want to know, LOL.
