Hello,

I am looking to buy a home somewhere around Cincinnati area.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about Hamilton co area......more specifically Ross twp, Layhigh, Millville......ect..

-Is it a safe area to live in?
-What is the stigma like when you say you live in Hamilton co?
-Is there any areas considered out in the boonies (middle of nowhere)?
-Are there any areas we should stay away from?
-Where is the neuc plant at in hamilton co?

-If anyone has any other information that could help me it would be appreciated!

Thanks

I can tell you none of the locations you described are in Hamilton Co. They are all in Butler Co.

Otherwise, the nuclear plant is not currently there, but previously the Fernald Park was a nuclear site. It was cleaned up by the Superfund program. It is within close proximity of the Rumpke trash dump, both of which are at the far southern edge of Ross.

Many people, myself included, consider this area the boonies, yes. But you're within 20-25 minutes of shopping and 45 minutes of Cincinnati, so overall not a horrible location. But I would not recommend living near Mt. Rumpke.

You might have to talk to someone in private because no one on a public forum like this or even a real estate person can tell you what part of town to live in.

Would you want to live in Ross or Millville? Eastgate or Batavia? Amberley Village? Avondale? Cheviot. Woodlawn? Blue Ash? Kenwood? Indian Hill? Camp Washington? Someone would have to explain to you what to expect in these areas.

Over the past 15 years there has been a big exodus to the northern suburbs of West Chester or Liberty Township.

Please recognize and consult a map that Hamilton Co. is not only large but where the City of Cincinnati is located. As you get out to the western portion bordering on Indiana things do get to be rather the boonies. But recognize that Butler Co. to the north plays a dominant fixture there. Older cities like Hamilton, which was devastated by the loss of manufacturing industries are making a struggling comeback. Hamilton is somewhere to look at for future opportunities. At least it is not the boonies.

Eastern Hamilton Co. is where you encounter areas like Anderson Twp and Milford. Right on the edge of the Co. is I-275. Cross it and you are in Clermont Co for all practical purposes. Not too much in eastern Hamilton Co. is any longer considered the boonies, but Clermont Co. sure is.

As you come back to the center north of Cincinnati you encounter Warren Co. which is where I live in Mason. Butler Co. and West Chester Twp. are right next door. Definitely the where is it at happenings around town. But if you are looking for the cheap, forget here, nothing cheap period.
