For the Cincinnati area. Overall, the rates are looking much improved over a year ago.

Area jobless rate lowest since July 2001

Apparently we also have the strongest economy in the Midwest.

Cincinnati economy fastest-growing in the Midwest

^^^ That is really something. I don't recall the last time Cincy was ahead of places like Minneapolis or Columbus in growing an economy. Let's hope this continues past the New Year because often times the economy really slows after Christmas and spending and hiring won't pick up again until Spring.

Fastest growing, but still an unimpressive figure.
This city needs to engage in some proactive policy-making to attract more tech sector and manufacturing jobs.

Yeah, manufacturing. Unskilled labor needs a place to go earn an honest buck if this city is going to thrive.

Actually there is a lot of high tech manufacturing in this country. Go to Connecticut for example and you will find United Technologies, GE and Pratt and Whitney, to name a few all have plants in the state.

Not familiar with this sector in Cincy and so I will take your word for it.

I said this City. My post was not concerning the country as a whole.

Also, we just landed a giant Festo in Mason, which is great.

Although GE is headquartered in Connecticut, much of its high tech manufacturing is located elsewhere. Needless to say, GE jet engines are designed and manufactured by thousands of Cincinnati employees.
