Most Amish and Mennonites in the state of Ohio live in the northeastern part of the state around Wooster, Holmes County, and Geugua Co. And in many cases, they do not use telephones or cell phones. The best way to find crews - if a crew would even come from hours away - is to make personal contact with the individuals.

There are Amish construction companies out in Adams County, on both Tater Ridge and Wheat Ridge roads. You could place an ad in West Union Defender.

Don't make your decision on a contractor strictly on whether or not they are Amish. Just was there are good and bad contractors in the general population, there are good and bad Amish construction companies.

Before I retired, I worked as a kitchen/bath designer/salesman. More than once there was an Amish company that did the rough framing on a new house. When they were finished, our carpenter/installer would need to go in and spend a couple of weeks straightening walls and adding blocking before the drywall would be installed so the cabinets would hang properly. His comment was, "That carpentry crew might build some awesome hog barns, but they have no business building houses."

We were not the developer/builder and had no input on the choice of framing carpenters, or there would have been a different crew. The builder probably ended up spending more than he needed to since he had to pay for both the original construction as well as the "corrections".
